Love Stormlight Archive. Probably my second favorite magic system after the Lightbringer series.

So many good fantasy books, it just sucks I basically have to spend an hour on Goodreads selecting "readers also enjoyed" to try and find new ones.

Perrin is an insufferable cuck. Mat is a bawse. Rand is schizophernic and fucks 3 girls on the regular. That's the synopsis.

Yes this is it in a nutshell. There were over 10 books at about 1000 pages each and realistically you could edit 400 to 500 pages of shit out of those books and it would be a great series. It's sloppy writing and editing IMO. As stated I made it to book 10 which is a decent commitment to a series and I'd had enough and even knowing the good reviews of the finish I just couldn't do it anymore. It was to the point that I wanted to put the books on eBay for free with an admittedly 'trollish' advert suggesting the books were trash. As such I just don't think I can revisit them. Why? There is so much literature available that doesn't leave a bitter taste in my mouth. I'm currently reading Cider house rules, prior to that Shogun. Both great books, well written, with good characters and interesting stories.

    His Stormlight books are exceptional.

I thought he did pretty well with the mess he inherited from Robert Jordan as well.

    Good taste.

Have you read Patrick Rothfuss' Kvothe trilogy? If not, you must. Best I have read George R Martin

Absolutely. Unfortunately I read it just as The Wise Man's Fear came out so it's just another case of GRRM blue balls at this point. I got into ASOIAF after A Storm of Swords so it's been two new books in about half my life time. :(

I'm trying it again. Not a fantasy guy, but i just cannot get past all the praise my friends have for this book. Feel like im really missing out on something special.

Gotta say. That after forcing myself to page 300, I'm finally invested in the story, and will most likely stick with it this time. The Lashing ability is really pretty cool, and the characters dont act all nonsensical.

Do you know if it will be a trilogy, or is this another WoT length extravaganza?

That's actually why I got on board in the first place. I thought the idea of this huge, epic series that I follow over the course of several years was cool.

It's a shame that I just didn't like that story or the world that much.

Yeah, some love that, but since its only about to be on book 3, i just dont eish to wait so long for the finale.

Last series of books i read that was that long, was Brian Lumley's Necroscope series, and that took forever. Even with the books being 300 less pages on average.

Aint nobody got time for that.

Yeah, I mean based on Sanderson's stated timetable, I'd be somewhere in my early 50s when the series concludes. I'm 35 now.

If, he keeps it up, and doesnt put it on the backburner, like many authors do. Even they sometimes get bored with their own stories.

One thing I do know about Sanderson is that the dude's a fucking machine. It's amazing how much stuff he puts out.

GoodReads shows a hell of a lot of material from him. Though 10, 1000 page tomes on a single story is a lot.

Heres hoping he sticks with it for his fans.

Mistborn trilogy was pretty good but not great. The magic system was well done, but his descriptions of the magic battles all blended together, and I found books 2 and 3 to be way too similar.
