American soldiers have a very poor reputation as uncivilized of american people and thats why they are in army. It may be a stereotype but its heavily believed in korea that army men are kind of not high status people.

Soldiers come in all types, just like any other subset of humanity.

Not really fair to insinuate Korean soldiers are cowards; they were ambushed, unprepared, and vastly under equipped at the beginning of the war.

i think you're spot-on, here. though i'll add on by saying that women do want a man who has a good job. but they also want a man who ACTS like a man. lots of asian parents tell their sons to avoid conflict and to turn the other cheek if wronged. the problem with that, is that you end up getting walked all over, including by women! a man will only attract women when he has self-respect for himself and doesn't allow others to control him, which seems to be in conflict with the asian culture.

While we may like to pretend we go for a certain type, we'd still date them if they were appealing in spite of not exactly falling under our preconceived (misconceived?) notions. There might be some truth to the idea of wanting to break away from a homogeneous aesthetic, but I wouldn't say it's a cultural stopgap barring Asians from Asians.
