A man armed with a handgun and several mags was shot and killed by Chicago police following an altercation Saturday. He had no prior police contacts and the gun was legal, though it’s unclear if he had a concealed carry license. Initially rumors spread that the man was unarmed, leading to violent protests in the city.

This one sucks because he doesn’t appear to be a gang banger. But why not comply? You’re surrounded and outgunned, why reach for your pistol after physically resisting the police?

That's probably a bad issue to protest over. It will just help turn public opinion against poor urban blacks

Not comply? The eyewitness said he had a holster and no gun. The news guy admits they shot and killed the man.

Either grab the guy or don't.

Shut up watch the body cam he has a gun and is going for the draw

Its dumb that people are waging this war on police and creating these feeling of fear and contempt of law enforcement.

This is exactly why South Side Chicago will remain a shit hole. No one wants to obey or respect the police, so the cops don't even give a fuck about what happens there.

Instead of trying take responsibility the narrative just seems to be a blame passing game. The people need to find a way to work together instead of clogging up a highway in protest.

Go to 2:55 of the video to avoid annoying mustache man talking

Shows the man arguing with almost a dozen cops, pushing them away, his shirt lifting up and showing a handgun in an owb holster, he runs away to the street, and the unmistakable motion of his high elbow in an L at his waist of drawing his gun. Car is in the way of his lower half so can’t 110% see fingers wrapped around a handgun

He was shot for being in the process of pulling a gun on police. Not being unarmed. Not being armed while black. 1 second later and there very well could have been dead cops

Real bad look for the anti cop crowd to protest before getting any of the facts. Way worse ones to try and go after departments for

Justified shooting in self defense. Nothing to be seen here.

Anyone protesting this should be ashamed. Wonder how many of them cared about the Australian lady getting gunned down by the cops after calling them.

Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

But it doesn't matter what the bodycam footage shows, people are gonna look for a reason to make a dindu like this out to be a martyr. And Jesse Jackson will help the media fan the flames and play up this race war.

I don't care if they're white, black or purple - low income areas are full of people who take no responsibility for themselves, so of course anything that goes wrong is never their fault. The police should just vacate those neighborhoods and let those animals fend for themselves because obviously that's what they want.

It does look like he was trying to draw but that the belt was not stiff enough pulling the holster up.

From the article, this is what kicked the whole thing off

Officers patrolling on foot tried to question the man over a "bulge around his waistband" that suggested he was armed, patrol chief Fred Waller has told reporters.

Which was then followed by the vid of him not complying with officers and trying to get away and then my above post of his shirt lifting up, flashing the gun, and him doing a textbook draw motion with his dominant hand to his waistband where cops just saw a gun on a subject that wasn’t listening

1) If you’re going to conceal carry, have an inside the waistband holster to drastically lessen the chances of being spotted

2) if you have an outside the waistband holster, just open carry imo. It seems way less sketchy than a tell tale gun outline pushing against your shirt

3) most important one here. All conceal carriers know that in an interaction with cops, the first thing you do is tell them that you’re a legal ccw holder and have a gun on you. Then you wait to see what they ask you to do. They may ask you to slowly get your wallet and show them the card (for the love of Pete do not say you have a gun and then reach into your back pocket), they might ask you to hold still while they take the gun off you temporarily as they work out if you’re legal to have it or not.

Don’t start a fight and become unruly. That just makes it dangerous for all involved, especially yourself.

Shit like this is what pisses me off.

Dude had no reason to take off.

They were disarming him for further conversation.

How was that not normal.

Gotdamn, i hate the hood.

Normal interactuons that wind up bad should not have protest tied to them.

Fair.

Unfortunate but its a 'justified shoot'. Textbook incident on what not to do if you're a CCW'er or anyone in general tbh.
