What did he tell you?
Theorized on it. I voiced how I dont like that move at all. Told me how it's banned in most tournaments for white belts, but I'd have to look up at the rules on the website.
What did he tell you?
‘Fum6duck’, I know it sucks to get injured, but try to put this behind you. Get healed up and move on with life. I don’t know if you’ll be coming back to training. Get the issue with the school contract settled. Wait a few days if you are not comfortable going in right away to talk. Your instructor has seen this kind of thing before and is just waiting on you to tell him what your next step is going to be. See what the doctor has to say about continuing practicing Martial Arts. If not, there is plenty of other stuff out there that you can do. It is not worth getting injured over and over or having an injury for life. Just look at some of the professional football players and what their health is like after they retire.
Are you blaming this one me?
The first injury was off a bad throw and totally my fault. This injury was off my training partner doing a jumping guard; I was never ever taught what to do. Not that it mattered because my knee gave out before I had time to react. And for a matter of fact, I did see a doc. This is just the first page; also, have the peroneal nerve damage causing a foot drop. So, please dont make assumptions when I stated my side clearly. There's a difference between weightbearing and walking normally.
So this is what ive seen so far.
TS Getting injured due to a guard jump, this sucks to be you.
TS Stating he was close to the level of the blue belt he rolled with, clearly not
TS Being upset that the head instructor hasn't checked in on him even if it is just to ask if he is ok. Again that sucks
But then you turn into a bit of a bitch. You've completely ruptured ACL right? So now you have drop foot? Wow you must be the most unlucky guy ever. I mean, I am a physio who specialises in knees and hips and have never come across this. Oh, and adding to that, ive had 6 knee surgerys on my right knee due to 2 ACL reconstructions. Currently train 4-5 times a week. "TWO Drs in an ER told you you were fucked" these Drs were specialists in their field and every avenue was exhausted first right? Dude, youre angling for law suit plain and simple.
Injuries happen, people can see that youre upset and maybe that's justified.
I am just not buying it.

…anyway, I’m sorry about your injury ‘Fum6duck’. I think the video below shows what I think happened to you. Not sure about the circumstances. What level White Belt are you? How big are you? How old and how big was the Blue Belt? Not a move I would practice on a White Belt, that’s why I’m curious as to why it was done to you. Either way, I think you are done with that school.
Just some thoughts on the matter. I was kneed in the balls by a White Belt just last week. It was a girl and I’m sure it was not intentional. Thankfully it was not a hard hit. I broke my nose years ago in Tae Kwon-Do while practicing with a friend of mine. It was an accident and I blame myself for the injury since I missed blocking a kick to the face. A kick I knew was coming. Injuries do happen when you practice but I truly believe the majority, when done by others, are not done on purpose and are mostly accidents. If it is on purpose than we are talking a whole other story.
I don’t think your instructor had anything to do with it. The Blue Belt is the one you should be focusing on. Is he/she an ‘asshole’ in training? Have you been with the school long enough to tell? Just remember, BJJ is a contact sport.
You are wrong. I've seen this kind of injury- it looks like peroneal nerve rupture, and depending on its severity, it can lead to loss of muscle mass on the outside of the leg below knee and loss of sensitivity in the foot. Actually it doesn't take much to rupture it, especially when legs are weak- usually the outward pressure to the knee joint.
If it's not a full rupture then it may heal somewhat, but VERY slowly- it takes many months, maybe a year. If it's torn then surgery is needed with nerve graft from some other area (with no real guarantee of restored functionality).
I actually think it's worse than torn ACL- with ACL most BJJ guys return to competition with almost no problems, reconstructive surgery is common and works nicely, you know what to expect. With nerve damage- not so much. Surgery success rate (for functionality. For sensitivity it's higher) is close to 50%, and if all fails you are gonna limp for the rest of your life, and your affected leg will look like shit.
This guy knows, and that's why I'm pissed.
Then sue the Fuck out of them. Here's an article about a dude who sued and won.
Here is an article about someone suing and losing. This is an even worst-case scenario where the student was killed during training and the court ruled in favor of the school.

Do you mean that you were too injured to get off the mats yourself, so they dragged you off so they could continue their training?I was rolling with a blue belt who decided to pull jumping guard and my knee gave out. After that, they pulled me off the mat to continue training.
He may not be personally looking after the Facebook page. You need to go in and see them. IMO if he has integrity, he will cancel your membership no problem... but you just never know.Facebook messaged him today detailing what happened and asked to cancel my gym membership. There's a notification he saw my message but has completely ignored it. What do you guys think?
If the school is training guard jumping, or not aggressively reprimanding students using it on lower belts the place is rotten from the top.
.
Read what said...Guard jumping is allowed for everyone other than white belts in almost all competitions.
That's like so basic!
