Are affairs/open marriages/cheating almost normal now?

People have always cheated. This is nothing new. Most people marry the wrong person and of course they get bored and fuck someone else.

I see these people on Tinder and Bumble every now and then. I'm like these sad fucks. You're telling me you're gonna do all that work courting/marrying a chick, put food on the table, roof over her head, buy her shit and then let some nobody come and plow your chick like it's cool while you're stuck there footing the bill. LOL HAHA! Fucking idiot!

Well it's no surprise considering it's normal in America to have casual sex with the opposite gender on a day-to-day basis. The culture there kinda..promote promiscuity and that negates the traditions of a normal marriage life.

Ah the ol' "I know a few people who do something so that means everyone must be doing it" thread. Always a classic

“If it’s a bad trait, people assume almost everyone else is like them. If it’s a good trait, people assume almost nobody else is like them.”

Well, cheating and open marriages are a wee bit of a different thing mate.

they, always have been the norm.

having sex with one person for 50 years is very difficult.

I think what you’re seeing is more reflective of a declining morality in society, not some sort of backdoor sexual revolution.

Honestly though I think infidelity rates are a very hard thing to judge as they depend on honesty.

What I think we've seen in the US and UK especially is a decline in shame culture since the mid 20th century, people feel less likely to be ostracized by actions like infidelity so are more likely to admit to them. That doesn't automatically mean that we've seen an increase in these things though which previously would have been hidden far more. Increasing rates of divorce as well probably mean you have fewer people stuck in loveless marriages these days than in the past so less infidelity.

If either of those things were considered normal, there would be no stigma with them being expressed openly. I would highly doubt that the vast majority of people engaging in such activities would want their families finding out about their infidelity, or their open marriages.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised with so many discreet avenues of communication if its more common today, and would also argue that unless you're a careless moron, it's more difficult to get caught, too.

I met one girl at a bar who was married and told me about her threesomes and she gave me her number 15 minutes later. I met a girl who approached me at the bar and after two minutes of talking told me that her husband was asleep and she was here with her boyfriend. I have a hard time telling who is married unless I see a ring. A lot of married women act thirstier than single women.

Well I think we know who’s getting the scarlet letter, whore.

Fair points though @Pugilistic.

My girl says if she finds a blonde hair in my car, she'll cut my balls off. So I'm not taking risks.

I’m a happily married father of 3 and have noticed a trend amongst my friends, conversations they have about others, people I’ve spoken with during work through my business and on holiday as well as seeing first hand and I feel there is a huge amount of couples/individuals who either habitually cheat on their spouse, have open marriages/swingers or have affairs with people (especially those in the same line of work or on holiday) am I blowing this out of proportion? Is it the same as it ever was? Wtf is going on?
It's the world you get when women have more say than guys.

The stuff needs to at least stay behind the curtain more. Women of the West don't love their husbands too often, because they got plowed way, way to much by way, way to many different guys to ever respect a man for marrying them. Plus, if a woman gets caught cheating, the man isn't allowed to even slap her. They will never say it publicly to foil their advantage, but women find this funny, and probably almost even sad. Hero-cops will save the day.

Guys cheat as well, and are changing with the times. People in the West get married too old, after too much whoring; men and women. I had a women that never cheated on me, but she turned on me in different ways because of her chemical imbalance. Now that I know 90% of women are a joke (I would have guessed 60%, before I got back out there) I realize I didn't appreciate her loyalty enough. It was rare.

In conclusion, with all the porn and bs, young people aren't associating sex with LOVE. Women have these primtive views on sex, like it's just acceptable drug use, when it used to be used to bond people together. That wasn't sexy enough, I guess. I guess gross, meaningless, "F me F me yeahh yeahh yeahh!" same crap over and over with strangers is somehow sexier? No.. It's not actually.

What's the point of being married then? There is no benefit for a man to have an open marriage unless she's loyal and lets you have a side chick.

I think root failure here is birth control, welfare, child support, and the perception that being a mother is somehow less important than having a career. It's pretty much the perfect storm to ruin the western family.

You have to be very patient with someone who is truly loyal to you.

When I was on OKCupid, it seemed like every other girl had a useless master's degree and was looking for, "ethical non-monogamy."

But I'm liberal as shit so maybe it's just who I was getting matched up with.

For sure but I would still argue there are major differences. Before it was obviously men who who had the money to support their families and had money too buy hookers etc. The wife could of course bang the Mail man but was there really any time for that?

It is all about women entering the workforce imo.
