Well DVD is digital, and Laser was analog, so that's one difference. But the big thing was that Laser discs were lower-resolution. The quality was somewhere in between VHS and DVD.

How could a CD be analog?
Isn't a CD digital by nature?
I'm not familiar with laser disc at all, I was born in 91

No but my friend did. We watched Mortal Combat on it and I distinctly remember watching this scene and thinking how cool it looked.

Well a LaserDisc is not exactly a CD, just as a CD and DVD are also different.
It's a bit confusing to me as well, but a LaserDisc does not store the data as binary 1s and 0s as a CD or DVD does.
I believe that a LaserDisc's relationship to a DVD could be likened to a vinyl record's relationship to a CD.
