People have the internet now and need to consider the risk when joining the army considering Americas history.

    I'm still in the middle.
I used to mainly defend the right trying to control via religion, but now my defenses are pointed towards the left and their attempts to control via PC authoritarianism type of stuff.

No. "America" wasn't a thing then, if you catch my drift. ;)

I’m a guy who voted for Kerry and Obama.

Over the last couple years, the left and extreme progressives have pushed me so far right, with their racist, backwards, hypocritical ideologies.

And through my studies, personal experience through work, I am more and more rejecting the ridiculous notion that all “cultures are equal.”

Some clearly are not. And it’s not racist to say so.

Conservative though my mid-30's. Increasingly liberal now in my mid-40's.

When I actually started becoming interested in politics about 13 years ago I considered myself a conservative.

Then after a few years I realized that I agreed very little with their social stances. Not to mention I just hate the war mongering and lack of fiscal conservatism of the Republican Party. They were supposed to be a party of "small government". But ultimately I realized they were just as bad as the Dems for different reasons when it comes to government intrusion, big spending and political hypocrisy in general.

So I shifted to libertarianism because I'm sick of the government playing the lifestyle police, especially on the federal level. I think we could all pay less in taxes if we just cut military spending and eliminated some of these overblown agencies like DHS. I'm just tired of the war mongering, War on Terror (which is just one big ruse and self fulfilling prophecy) and overcrowded prisons full of non-violent offenders.

I just don't trust any of them, again, on the Federal level especially. These fuck wads on both sides of the aisle forget who they serve. Mostly only caring about their legacy and making themselves rich.

I almost look at being a politician as being worse than a drug dealer. I would run for office as libertarian candidate hating the fact I was even a politician, like I was part of the problem.

I was a left wing nut job, as I studied social work in college. Then I started paying taxes and tried helping people get off welfare but realized 90% of my clients are pieces of shit that just want free money and have zero responsibility. there are so many programs that people just don't use. I wish we could stop welfare and put the money into subsidized child care, kick all the bums out of the province.

Then Daddy came along..... the rest is history.

I haven't changed, but I've grown to understand other people's views better. I've learned that our own environments shape our beliefs.

I used to be much more of a social conservative, but have slowly moved away from it, as it makes no sense to be for a smaller government, and also wanting them to have more control over my day-to-day existence.

Not a liberal though, as I don't want a babysitter for my adult life either.

It's hard to be a "realist" while using fake "facts". ;)

How is that an oxymoron? Libertarian socialism has a significant overlap with anarchism. In fact Libertarianism was first used in a political sense to describe leftist anarchists in the 1800s, it didn't become used describe to right wing ideologies until the rise of right libertarianism in the 1950s.
