1. What exactly is vocal oppressive racism?
2. I think most of the worst examples of racial oppression in the US are historically products of the left, though neither party was innocent and there have been many racist Republicans:
1. The Trail of Tears was ordered by a Democrat president.
2. The Dems backed slavery to the point of secession; Republicans wanted to abolish it ( and eventually did).
3. Woodrow Wilson was a committed racist who reintroduced segregation into the US military and civil service.
4. FDR rounded up US citizens of Japanese ancestry into concentration camps.
5. Jim Crow was Democrat policy.
6. The KKK and the Democrat party had a long and harmonious relationship together. The KKK for most of its sordid history was defined as much by being anti-Republican as being anti-black, because the Republicans were perceived to be
-lovers.
The left was also home to many politicians and civil rights leaders who deserve our utmost respect, including Truman (for integrating the military), JFK and LBJ for pushing through the Civil Rights Act. (The CRA itself was supported by a 60% majority of the Dems in Congress and an 80% majority of the Republicans in Congress.) MLK was a liberal who is deservedly revered for his enlightened and compelling views on race.
