Im glad about the introduction of the River King, because his existence helps to resolve one of the questions about the setting that have been bugging me: Where does all the opium that Quinn produces end up?
The Cogs dont look like they can afford the stuff, so it had to be shipped somewhere outside the Badlands, but they kept telling us that nobody leaves the Badlands.
Now we know that isnt true, the River Kings ships routinely leave the Badlands, presumably taking opium, gold and other products up-river, and bringing back slaves and other commodities that cant be manufactured by the barons.
