AMC's INTO THE BADLANDS (Season 3 Premiering April 22, 2018)

The season is only 6 episodes long, so committing to it in order to form an opinion based on the whole thing presents less of a problem.

I'm liking it so far. The action is beautiful to watch and the brutality is just over the top enough that it doesn't cross into torture porn, but without getting ridiculous enough to be annoying.

And they're doing a surprising amount of world-building with just a few monologues and conversations. I approve.

As for the look of it, who knew that Wuxia and Antebellum South could go so well together?

Wow the first episode was disappointingly shitty. The action scenes were really fucking good, but everything else sucked balls. The world building was straight ass, seemed really forced and cliched. Charlie Chaplin looking ass gangsters with swords? Abe Lincoln speaking in a hillbilly accent as the baron? I like Daniel Wu but lord almighty is his role probably the most boring character I seen. Always with a serious face on and zero personality.

I'll probably watch the second episode for the fight scenes, but if it sucks too Ima have to skip the whole shit.

I wasn't really feeling it either. The action was good but none of the characters really grabbed me as people whose fates I was invested in (yet).

Plus the inclusion of the mystical element kind of threw me. Before that I was thinking this was some kind of post-apocalyptic earth or alternate reality where nobody had invented guns. Turns out it's just contemporary wuxia set in the new old south.

I'll try another few episodes before I bail.

I think it has potential. Fight scenes were awesome and it seemed to have a good overall production value. Anyoen else watch?

Enjoyed the first episode. Good action and cinematography.

Acting was rough but that usually happens at the beginning of series. Martial arts was weak as well though, you could see the slight pauses in the fighting as they were waiting on the move so they could counter it.

Will keep watching it though

Into The Badlands Is Third Highest Rated Cable Premiere Ever In Key Demographics

2nd episode was pretty good.

Hard to believe but the Widow fight scene at the beginning might have been better than the Sonny fight from the first episode.

Into the Badlands might have just surpassed Daredevil as TV's best fighting show.

damn, this show is violent and graphic.
enjoyed the 2nd episode. looking forward to the next one.

Nah, don't get crazy Dragon. It's a very, very different style of fighting. It's not even on Arrow's level. It's just so ridiculous and over the top. It's fun, don't get me wrong, but physics have no place in these scenes.

The key difference is that Daredevil tries to give the appearance of realism in its fight scene. This show simply does not give a single fuck and is in full fantasy martial arts mode.

Nothing about this show is supposed to look plausible, it's all supposed to look awesome. And I think it is successful in that regard. The only concession this show does to realism in the fight scenes is when Sunny tried to move the action to a bottleneck where the other guys can't bring their numbers to bear. Like in this episode when he moved the fight to the turbines and the rafters.

still deciding to invest in this series. The previews looked weird but looks like something that I would be interested in.

Never heard of it. Looks like the type of show that will be badass for the 1st season then fall off after that.

Will check it out none the less.

with white and black slaves like it really was, oh wait they were erased from official state sanctioned history books

Makes me want to read a Japanese history book.

It was great to see Black Widow kicking ass in the opening. How did they convince Marvel to cross over?

Really enjoyed the first 2 episodes.

Knew I should give it a chance after reading all the criticism in this thread. If Sherdoggers didn't liked it,its usually something good.

Dystopian America ruled by barons, swordfights? sold

i'll be watching this, liked the trailer

Sounds like revolution. Either way post apocalyptic is always interesting to me.

Although I'm not too keen on Martin Csokas' accent, I like the show.

I think the 2nd episode was better than the first. Still not phenomenal, but I'll certainly be back next week.
