His chin is terrible. That's what needs to get better and we all know that's not going to happen.
This is crazy talk.
Alvarez has a world famous chin. He's capable of taking a ton of punishment, which we've seen throughout his career. He's basically known for getting hurt, then coming back.
30+ fights and two KO losses isn't a chin problem, and he's fought a ton of tough guys in recent years, some serious hitters. The last guy to actually KO him is the most famous KO hitter in the sport right now.
Alvarez doesn't have a bad chin he judt had quite possibly the worst striking defense in all of MMA. The way he leaves his chin out is comical at times.
How many times have Anderson or Hendo been "hurt" in their careers? Until late in their careers they were able to take incredible punishment without getting rocked. Just because you comeback to win a fight after getting rocked does not mean you have a good chin if you had a good chin you would not have gotten rocked in the first place. The fact that Alvarez has been hurt so much just shows how bad his chin is.
Good at everything, great at nothing type of fighter.
Your logic is way off.
We compare 'chins' in MMA by considering how you fair when hit against your group of peers. Alvarez has repeatedly proven to be capable of absorbing big hits, when compared to his own peer group, you would never put him below 'average' in this regard.
Conor McGregor, is by any sane standard, and outlier when it comes to punching power. That is evidenced by him knocking everyone down and usually out.
You don't judge a metric like chin by using an outlier as the standard.
I love eddie. But he had a terrible showing vs conor. He aint sniffing a belt ever again.
Thought we wouldve seen the best Eddie by now. I feel hes peaked and is struggling hard fighting these top dudes.
Hes waay to hittable for TFerg, Justin, Barboza, Nate, and Conor wouldnt even entertain a rematch.
Conor stole his soul. It's a pattern at this point. Alvarez, Mendes, Aldo were never the same again. Poirier sort of rose above it, Nate never gets broken.
He looked pretty loose against Conor. Surprised he didn't Kish the mat.
Then a DQ for illegal knees.
Dude has sucked on toast since winning the belt. Maybe the next ex-champ that just completely tanked after losing the belt.
I like Eddie Alvarez but I agree his defense is fohkin TRASH! I'll always look forward to seeing the dogs fight's in the future though still. I lost my shit when he managed to mount a comeback after being put on dream street by Dustin. I really wanna see him touch up his striking and his defense, he has power, imo he's just very inaccurate, bombs are useless if you can't land them.
Nah gaecheese has worse defense
