All Eye Pokes Are Not Equal...

perhaps not automatically... in this case for instance, the open-hand BS Abdurakhimov threw, didnt make sense actually, unless it was aimed to do this...

If they knew they would get a point taken fighters would stop doing it.

one poke=warning.
2nd = point
need replays to verify

Watch the fight and come back here, dont lose my time.

Loads of people watched the stipe vs dc fight and didnt even know stipe poked dc. Loads of people dont know about a jon jones eye poke until they get the one camera angle that shows it

There are levels to this, with this post you just got dropped by invicta

You´re an idiot, congrats.

Thread is trash. No one cares. Get it off the main page please.

You're right all things are not equal but people tend to think bipolar. It's either/or no grey areas or context.
I mean, it is black and white that en eyepoke is always undesirable.

The question is of degree and intent.

Lol at this thread

When are we going to see them punish people for improving position by grabbing the fence is what I wanna know

Not sure what the TS is getting at. Not all eyepokes are equal is true. Not all eyepokes are intentional. Not all eyepokes are by accident. All eyepokes should be treated the same. 1 point deduction if bad enough to alter fight. 1 warning then 1 point if by accident and not that bad.

Of course not. Some of them are done by the goat, JBJ. It’s like having your eyes scratched by a semi god.

Yeah, it's weird what you get away with. If you've been warned about poking someone in the eye then you also have a free kick to the nuts and at least one fence grab. Only do everything once though.

It wold be so much better to just deduct a point immediately, doesn't matter if it's intentional or not. Either that or if you get poked in the eye you get to poke back, same with groin strikes.

You bring up the Stipe-DC fight...yet of the two, DC was the one fighting in a manner almost guaranteed to produce an eyepoke and was warned about it. It's a similar situation to what the TS is pointing out : if the eyepoke happens because of a direct open handed thrusting strike like that, a move where the chance of an eyepoke is far, far greater than other moves, it's more egregious even if it's accidental. It's like a DUI crash — the intoxicated person didn't mean to crash, but he willfully engaged in behavior that greatly increased its likelihood, and is therefore punished more harshly.
