It was lucky in the sense that it was intended as a kick and worked as a knee, but Marlon was clearly better.
 
if he's acknowledging he made a mistake from shooting in from too far away, how is it luck? it's not luck, you gave yourself away by panic wrestling and Moraes read the movement and attacked with a body kick.

It was obviously lucky. Marlon threw a kick, and Sterling dove directly into his knee. But Marlon is also the better fighter. These things aren't mutually exclusive.
