I know there was a lot of gore in this one, I just hope that there's just as much (or more) suspense. What I want is some science fiction and horror. What I don't want this to turn into is a teen-slasher flick with an alien as the slasher.

I'll go check it out, but I'll try to remain objective.

I'm left pretty meh after that. I'm a huge fan of the first two alien movies (and video games), I thought the third one was okay, but I don't know, this just didn't do anything for me.

I hope it surprises me and brings something new and advances the lore, but I'm not counting on it. Being the fan that I am though, I'll end up seeing it, it's just a matter of whether I do so in theaters or not.

At the end of the day the Alien franchise is a Sci-fi horror/thriller.

It's not a good thing if there just doing the same story with a new cast and crew. All the old movies managed to bring something new to the story each time and I enjoyed them all.

Yeh I guess. For me and likely alot of people the first 2 are the best, theres a good reason for that. What storlylines can the alien franchise even do before it becomes a muddled mess aka Prometheus.

Human gets attacked by face hugger.
Human colony gets mauled by Aliens.
Government facilities experiment on Aliens then get slaughtered.
Alien, Predator and Human threeway.

Where to go from there ?

I personally would like to see a movie where the crew/colony is aware that there has been something in the past that has wiped out humans but its more on a need to know basis. So rather just a conspiracy. It would be cool too have a discussion about rumours of some alien species that mauls humans but no one really knows of the "Alien".

The trailer didn't look terrible. It just looked like more of what we've already seen rehashed again with different actors.

I guess it could work on the same premise a porno does; you already know what you're going to get, so it's pretty sure to push the right buttons, but you won't really be impressed or surprised.

trailer was kinda meh but that's good cause in the last years, all films with awesome trailers sucked bigtime.

One thing I try and keep in mind is that they outsource the trailer process to a trailer house who does goes through the footage and then creates a trailer/campaign. So there's a lot riding on a separate team to take 2 hours of footage and make something cool with it. Its part of the reason why some movies have awesome trailers and then the movie ends up being terrible. Basically whoever cut the trailer was able to come up with a neat idea.

I thought this trailer was a very mediocre job considering the budget and acceptations of this movie. I'm torn either way on how this movie plays out but the first trailer wasn't good and showed too much which usually amounts to a lack of creativity on how to present the viewers with the material.

I'm excited. Most of you have ridden the Prometheus hate train for so long that if an alien burst out of your chest you'd use your final breath tell it that you aren't mad, just disappointed.

Prometheus was one of the most disappointing movies I've seen (especially in theater), and I wanna say I won't go see this in theaters, but I might.

If not, I'll watch it on HBO, Netflix, or whatever.

Seems aight. Nothing to go bonkers over either way. I'll still check it out in theaters though, if only for the interesting casting choices (IE McBride, Franco).
