I guess they must have some sort of sink or swim mentality. Russians have records like that a lot. e.g. if you look at Khabib's record when he was like 15-0 he was fighting guys with losing records or making their pro debuts.

Some of these guys with low records have quite impressive amateur background and some times it's hmm... like Berkut Grozny team that has a bad habit of throwing their amateur fighters under some havy fire by putting them against tough veterans

It's also hard to know their amateur backgrounds most of the time because they aren't recorded on Sherdog or Tapology.
