Aaron Pico overrated?

He's clearly very talented and has legit credentials in wrestling and boxing

People are geeking out over him because of that, not because of the depth of his resume

I am very impressed how fast he learned boxing. Imo he is an exceptional overall talent.

No one knows how far this will get him but he has heart, determination, talent and is a down to earth guy.
If nothing goes wrong I see him as a clear top5 fighter in his weightclass who can challenge for any belt with some more years of experience.

No, he is rated as he should be right now. He may not be as polished just yet, but he is just 3 fights into his pro career. You can't expect him to be a world champion just yet.

imo, they need to stop hyping prospects and quietly let them accumulate undercard wins... then promote them. Mackenzie Dern, Aaron Pico and Tom Duquesnoy were all portrayed as if they were all immediate title challengers... until we saw how they really match up against relative unknowns.

He is properly rated as a prospect. We need to see more of him.

His credentials and potential are spectacular, he is a new fighter fighting other new guys. He is a green fighter fighting other green fighters

Are you stupid? Do you think he should be fighting for a belt his first match up ever?

After getting demolished in his debut it only makes sense that they build him up.

He’s actually fighting pretty experienced guys that have solid records across respectable Indy promotions like RFA, WSOF, and GC. They also fought experienced guys with solid records and Pico completely demolished the last two and that really hadn’t happened in their careers. That doesn’t mean they’re great fighters but it’s hard to criticize the start of Pico’s career. There are older guys that come from strong wrestling backgrounds that haven’t made the leap that Pico’s career began with.

Most prospects, especially in Bellator, would be fighting guys with no pro fights. Hell, even an Ed Ruth, James Gallagher, AJ McKee, etc are probably just now fighting guys the level Pico started his career with.

If a 20-21 year old kid starts his career vs s combined record of 30-9(not Greg Nagy off the couch types, not geezers, but young active professionals) and people say he’s all hype and only fighting cans..they’re basically admitting he’s even better than that and should already be fighting an Emmanuel Sanchez, Henry Corrales, John Texiera, or Sam Sicilia(guys who of course would be called cans as well if Pico demolishes them). In that case, you believe the talent is real. You won’t have to wait to long. At his current trajectory he’ll likely fight a Sanchez with a couple more dominant wins over Shane Krutchen types. I’m excited at the pace Pico is going

he is a prospect... that means we dont know how good he can be, but his technique looks great. He looks way better then Sage already

He’s a great prospect. The issue with the huge train derail in his debut was Bellators fault for overhyping him to the moon. They’re now in full MVP match-making mode and he’ll be protected with careful match-ups for the next few years.

not at all
he lost his first match against a bigger and way more experienced guy and rebounded nicely since
he still is super promising imo

People tend to forget this.

Pico's debut was at 155 (no cutting weight needed) and Freeman looked at least 20 lbs more than him come fight time.

Freeman at the time was also a sparing partner with Woodley. Not a bad way to train for a wrestler/puncher making his debut and much smaller than yourself.

Now that he is in the weightclass he is supposed top be at (145), the sky's the limit.
