A question about motorcycle culture

I have a 99 FXR2. I never have time to ride anymore. I'm lucky if I take her out every 3-4 months. Plug in a battery charger overnight and she cranks right up every single time and rides like a dream. Great bike.
Never sell it.

I used to ride a Rusi Mojo, it's a fake knockoff midget Ducati Monster.

It is cool.

The funniest part is, that him standing there and threatening you over that bullshit when he is obviously unaffiliated is actually something that could get his ass fucked up if he did it in front of real 1%ers or they caught wind of it. LMFAO at the idea that HD makes 1%er Tshirts. Holy fuck I wish that dude had said some shit like that to me in public.

When he was talking about beating people's asses I would have calmly and unimpressed asked him if any of his buddies had been shot in a parking lot for trying to fight with the wrong person yet. If he said no, I'd say "Hm - That's surprising."

With Harley, their best bikes are gone now. The fuel injected stuff works well, but requires a computer to work on and the wires and how they tuck them ruins the look of the bike - So I say stick with a carb. The FXR is the best frame they ever made, hands down. If you like to push the bike in corners and just rail hard, FXR is the one. Dynas came after, to replace it - and that would be my 2nd choice, I believe the last year they carb'd them was 1996 or maybe 1998 so that would be the one I'd go for there, but the FXR frame is stiffer and more sought after. With a Dyna you'd get a bigger motor, but I can mob 100-105mph for hours on my FXR as like a cruising speed which is absolutely fine for me. That, and you can always stick a bigger motor in an FXR frame, you can't make a Dyna frame perform like an FXR.

Both of these bikes are smaller than all these old-man couch baggers that most people are buying these days, but both can be easily equipped as touring bikes with removable bags and windscreens and shit.

Yeah I was laughing inside and just nodding in agreement, hoping he would go away as quickly as possible. I don't even like to engage people like that. I just want their poor people problems out of my life as quickly as possible. Would have been more fun to watch you deal with him for sure.

Looked on craigslist and damn those FXR's have held their value. People wanting $15k for 25-30 year old bikes so they must be pretty good. I'm more of a carb guy as well. I like to know I at least have a shot at getting it fixed if I'm in a pinch. I don't know if I'll be riding it has hard as it sounds you do. I kind of just want to cruise around some winding roads up in the hills and stuff like that. Although I'm sure the need for speed will hit me once I'm out there so having something that can handle and get up and go will be important. Thanks

A tip on searching for FXRs is to use "FXR" as search term, but then also search for "FXRT" and "FXRP" (touring and police models) - Both are more desirable and valuable versions, if you can find one with all the bags and the fairing you're talking a serious collector bike - but they're also often hidden from searches that only look for FXR. Whatever you buy, try and get one after 1986. They moved from a cable-operated clutch to a hydraulic one, and the later hydraulic clutches are much nicer to live with.

I think they're ok. I was a sport bike guy, until my bike was stolen last summer [made a thread about it]. I waved at every one, thought all us bikers were cool, the only ones that wouldn't wave back were the [occaional] Harley guys. Maybe its just my area. After that, I would always wait until the oncoming rider would wave, then I would do it.

Trikes are fine with me!

Nope, its every area with Harley (and GS) riders. For some reason, a large portion of them think they are "real" bikers, yet I only ever spot them during the summer or on weekends.

Bike culture is gay. I own 4 motorcycles.

My Brother in Law was patched into a club. I don't think they were outlaw, but the club they were a subsidiary of is. I hung out at their club house and there were guys with 1% patches on and shit, but everybody was surprisingly very nice. They would do a lot of things for charity and always seem to have each others backs.

They have some dumb rules and I wouldn't want to get tangled up in a crowd like that, but I've always had a blast hanging out with them.

That's fine. I just think that clubs in general and pretty much any fraternal organization is sort of weak pussy shit for sheep and people who are too scared or clueless to stand on their own. It's not for me.

As long as we're on the topic of bikes I think I'm going to get this bike for the once the snow melts. It's a Chinese knock off, but it's only $1400 brand new. which is cheap for an enduro. I live in a small city surrounded by a shit ton of woods. The bike is only a 250, but I'm not looking for something that's going to rip my dick off.

I reaserched it a bit online and there are a few tweaks I would want to make to it, but what do you guys think?

It's not for me either, but I don't see whats so pussy about it. It's just like a VFW or American Legion with a bunch of guys that like to ride motorcycles together.

Bike culture,

I guess it’s an excuse to wear skin tight black vneck shirts with really short sleeves so everybody can see your shitty tribal tattoo.

Tuck the T-shirt into jeans so people can see your pistol on your belt. For extra points, shave your head and wear wrap around sunglasses.

Because it's a bunch of hierarchy and fake authority and rules and stupid shit like that, just to so desperately belong to something. It's embarrassing.

Seems like the crosstourer guys are out there whether it's 10 degrees and spitting snow or 100 degrees and 90% humidity
