A level athlete Greg Hardy gassed in 57 seconds

I also did the same, and weighed over 300 easy in high school (215 now, thank god).

Football doesn't require shit for cardio. Not even fucking close. 10 seconds of action (at most), 35-40 seconds of rest depending on when your part of the play is over.

I did wrestling after football and it was worlds apart. Football is easy. It requires physical attributes and practice at certain skills, but it's easy as fuck. Wrestling is perhaps the most physically/mentally demanding activity we've created as a species. Every practice was torture.

Cant speak on wrestling but theres no weight cutting for football and id imagine that's a huge part of what makes wrestling practice hard.

I had a friend who was pretty dominant in wrestling and he would wear a trash bag under his clothes everyday.

Exploding from a three point stance and moving another human being while trying to diagnose where the ball is going and finding the quickest way to get to the play is exhausting.

Then, you run back to the huddle, get the next call and get lined up again.

Theres maybe 8 to 10 seconds to breathe before you get back down in that 3 point stance and explode again.

they require to sprint for 5~10s. these short bursts. that's the whole sport basically. while football players have to endure 90 min of play almost nonstop

https://www.runnersworld.com/runners-stories/a20805366/the-distance-run-per-game-in-various-sports/

european football players run many more miles compared to the NFL ones. also, as this article says, in the 3 hours (?) of a game, the ball only runs for 11 min

That's only looking at running. What linemen do is like grappling (with very specific rules) on and off for 3 hours. And as a soccer fan (and former player, soccer parent and former youth soccer coach), I can appreciate the amount of running in the sport. The sport has a lot of breaks as well, though.

Closer to 45 seconds of rest, but you're spot on.

You guys should see A Level athlete Neymar swing a bat. Running and kicking since you could walk will certainly make you good at it, other athletic things not so much.its all subjective

soccer is a joke. only 3rd world countries and SJW socialist shithole euro countries care about it.

So the whole world is wrong and only America is right in your bigoted vision.
You sound like a legit Murican.

I still enjoy your football though (more like handegg).

Dude, no.

The play clock is 40 seconds from the whistle that ended the previous play.

Im assuming youve watched an NFL game so you should understand that they don't get to stand around breathiung for those 40 seconds...

i take it you beat your girlfriends too then? yeah let's feel sorry for the poor guy, I mean he was making millions and abused his girlfriend multiple times and then got in trouble for it and then after he got in trouble for cocaine but you are right, we should feel so bad for him.... and while we are at it lets feel bad for ted bundy too
Never once said to feel sorry for the guy.

Take your high horse and shove it up your ass. While it's in there, try taking a 5th grade reading comprehension course.

He's been through a lot? Who's fucking fault is that? And he's LUCKY he's getting a second chance. I don't give 2 shits how good he gets and I know it doesn't really matter what I think but I'll never watch him fight.
I'm talking about it from his perspective. I have no empathy for the guy.

But you're basically exactly what I was describing, so thanks for proving my point, machine person.

I have plenty of feelings but they're just not for people that have the world by the balls, and then piss it away.

People wanna blame adrenaline dumps, nerves, whatever. But nobody wants to imagine what that would translate to in a 1st round where he's swinging away, missing, and getting grappled.

Hardy is gonna get exposed badly, and people are immediately gonna make "what happened to Hardy?!" "A level athletes aren't real!!!" threads everywhere. Bank on it.

Lol at you Americans thinking that sprinting and being able to jump really far/high are the main deciding factors in athleticism. Just because they’re important attributes for your two favorite pasttimes football/basketball, doesnt make it the be all end all of athleticism.

Cardio, distance management, timing, positioning, precision, etc etc. are all important as well in many other sports, including mma.

He does look overweight. Hopefully if he’s serious about the UFC he gets in better shape.

You're right that athleticism is based on the sport you're playing people don't seem to comprehend that on here. For example micheal phelps is built for swimming and is extremely athletic in the pool but would probably look silly on a track doing sprints. In this day and age athletes are sport specific that's why a guy like phelps can have the same leg length as a 5'9 sprinter even though he towers over him it's because sprinters have a bigger advantage from long legs and the NFL emphasizes on that and looks at all attributes that's why QBs are generally taller than centers and tackles have longer reaches, every physical attribute is looked at to fit players where they have an advantage or to pass on a player who will be at a disadvantage.

I didn’t see the fight but adrenaline dumb is a real thing. It’s especially bad for guys with no experience. Without seeing the fight my assumption would be the moment got too him and he put 100% behind every motion

It's a different type of cardio. To say it doesnt require great cardio is foolish. You act like soccer players sprint for 90 minutes straight.

in real football players are constantly moving trough the 90' and they are trained to sprint after sprint after sprint etc.
on top of that they keep their attention at the highest level all the time since they have to sprint even at the last second of the match, control the ball etc.

Most sherdoggers aren't exercise scientists. They don't understand that specific movement patterns in one sport, and the various physiological adaptations that develop due to genetics and training, won't likely carry over to completely different patterns of another sport.

If he wants to increase his MMA stamina, he needs to spar and wrestle a lot.

People keep going on about him being an 'A level athlete' but American Football plays for like 30 seconds a time at best, wouldn't be surprised if his gas tank is shit.
Football players go 100% while physically contacting and pushing and pulling other guys going 100% every play of the game. On average there are about 60 plays on each of the ball every game. Imagine doing 60 sprints and 60 sumo matches in the span of one game.

soccer players jog for at least 75% of the match.
