I dont play video games what so ever

My last game i actually seriously played was mental gear solid for the PS2 and it was amazing tbh

I havent played anything since

I am now 28 and im thinking of starting gaming as a new hobby of sorts but have a few questions

1. How old are you ?

2. How long have you been gaming

3. I see gaming as a solitary activity? did starting gaming open up new doors to meet similar minded people in the real world or has it always been just an online thing

4. What do you enjoy most about gaming

5. Do you prefer gaming to going out and socializing ?

2. 29 years, though less over the past 4 years.
3. Gaming, for me, is about new worlds to explore, interesting characters, grand conflicts, and amazing challenges.
4. It's the most interactive form of entertainment, and the best games (IMHO) are the ones in which you're presented choices that have consequences over the world/characters.

5. Save gaming for the times that socialising isn't available or if you're broke. But if you're gaming on a Friday night, you're a loser, go out and hang with your friends!

Even then, invite them over to play some multiplayer games. Some of the most fun times I've ever had in my life were with friends, playing games, and drinking.
 
1. How old are you ? 29 (30 in 7 weeks and I'm scared)

2. How long have you been gaming? I got a gameboy age 5 I think. Got my first "Gaming PC" when I was 9 or 10 (it was a shitty office pc from a liquidation sale that I put a GPU in)

3. I see gaming as a solitary activity? did starting gaming open up new doors to meet similar minded people in the real world or has it always been just an online thing. I can't say I've made any friends gaming online and the friends you do make seem to be pretty single serving and rarely last long. However some irl friends play so we bond over games. However one friend did meet his wife playing Warcraft (although they are going through divorce proceedings atm, make of that what you will.)

4. What do you enjoy most about gaming Crushing my enemies, seeing them driven before me & hearing the lamentations of the women.

5. Do you prefer gaming to going out and socializing ?What do you mean by going out and socialising? like going to a nightclub? in that case I'd much rather stay in & game. I play a lot of board games though so most of my socialising is done through that hobby.

In conclusion go buy Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride & Carcassone and get some one to play with you instead of video gaming.
 
The one thing that is a huge selling point for video games is the cost. I brought Overwatch last May for £30 and have easily played 500+ hours since then. That makes it some of the cheapest entertainment out there.

I tend to meet people all over and can form IRL relationships with people I meet online. Hell, one of my good friends I met here on sherdog.

4. What do you enjoy most about gaming? Its cheap entertainment.

5. Do you prefer gaming to going out and socializing ? No, I would rather game than hit up a club, but id rather be outdoors hiking, shooting, or disc golfing over just about anything else.

3. I don't care to play online against random people or meet people online.

4. The escape from reality. It's up there with music and my aquarium in my life.

5. All depends on my mood. Staying home and gaming and going out and socializing serve different purposes.

including on Sherdog.
4. it really inspires my imagination, helps me when im depressed. like Radier nation said, helps me escape from reality. also i enjoy going out and collecting classic games. makes me feel like im on a treasure hunt.
5. Depends, i do like socializing but i prefer keeping to myself so gaming it is. However i have been getting back into kayaking and stuff like that.

3. It's mostly a solitary activity. I used to play games with my wife a fair bit, but with couch co-op dwindling, not so much these days. Made a few friends online, and been gaming with them for over 10 years, but rarely meet up. A lot of real life friends game as well, but our tastes differ on modern games, though we were talking about getting together and having some retro game nights.

4. £ for £ it's the cheapest entertainment going.

5. It would be very rare for me to choose staying in and playing games over going to the pub with mates.

5. Do you prefer gaming to going out and socializing ? - Nope. I like both and try to mix them up. Also some games are amazing for 2 - like sports games ir Mortal Kombat and the like - so you can get a beer and play say EA NBA with a friend.

2. Been gaming since about age 3 or 4 starting with my older brother's TI-99 and his Atari 2600.
3. Whether sitting side by side playing consoles or online with each other I have done a lot of gaming with friends or my brothers.
4. I find gaming relaxing and yet stimulating.
5. Generally no, but there's definitely been times where I thought to myself that I'd rather stay home to game than go out, but that was mostly between age 11 and 15 or thereabouts I think.

3. Largely these days, but I used play with people (in person and online) a lot more when I was younger. I play online with friends when I can. Schedules don't always line up though. Adulting and all that.

4. The immersion, a good story, test of skill, and especially the sheer fun and imagination of it. I also really like the cooperation on games that have co-op. Plus, gaming is a very cheap form of entertainment where you get a lot for what you pay. It's a great distraction from reality, which is nice, particularly when reality is dull or stressful.

5. No. I'd rather go hiking, swimming, get a good meal with someone, etc, though I prefer gaming to say, bars, clubs, or whatever.

Bit of both. I use to love watching my brother or friends play games and loved playing split screen in games like Halo 1. Now I typically just play open world adventure games (elder scrolls, fallout, the witcher, etc.)

For me it lets me explore and expand reality and just lets me not have to worry about any issues in my life. Its an escape that I've always loved.

It depends. If its on a weekday then I absolutely love to come home from work and just game since my roommate works 2nd shift anyway and my gf works at night to, but if its on a weekend I'd prefer to go out with them and have fun.
