Avenatti is claiming that they ran into each other at a restaurant, were seated close to one another and had a little chat that went well, and that he would be willing to represent Cohen if Cohen is willing to turn state's evidence and come clean to the American people.

When has Avenatti been full of shit?
Did I say anything in my statement AT ALL about Avenatti? If you want to infer something you'd be more on target to direct your question toward Cohen if anything. As for the tapes, how much of what he has may be ruled protected under attorney client privilege?

One thing of value that will likely come out of this either way is the likelihood that Cohen's career as an attorney is probably over.

To be honest, I don't really care what he may or may not have on tape or what will be admissible. I also don't care if Trump is impeached because of it. What I care about is Trump remaining in his post long enough to get that SCOTUS seat filled. Ideally, RBG's seat also opens up before Trump's bill comes due and he gets that one filled as well.

It'll be interesting to see what November brings because none of this will be settled by then and how it effects voting should given some idea of the direction our political system is heading regardless of Trump. He's mostly a sideshow, with the real issues devolving down to the States. How will each state decide it wants to be governed? Is what's occurring around the country going to be enough to motive voters to come out and what will the pressing issues be that drive their votes?

Who gives piss about hired sex when immigration, jobs, trade, freedom of speech and the 2nd are all in the mix.

The reference to Tom Arnold was so out of the blue that I assumed you were putting this Avenatti's claim on par with Arnold's. That was all Tom Arnold on the Cohen thing, Cohen just tweeted out the picture and didn't respond to Arnold's "look at me" tweets and TV appearances. And yes, Cohen is not going to have a career as an attorney after this, though I don't think he really ever was a real lawyer given that Trump and Hannity were his only stated clients as revealed in court hearings, and Hannity wasn't a client in a real sense.

Well in regards to Avenatti, we'll see how things play out with Cohen. Avenatti is an ambulance chaser is all of this, wanting to attach his name to anything related to the Trump story so he can get that camera time and attention. Anything to do with him I'm going to be sceptical of.

I think that is fair, Avenatti is using this to build his own political career, but he is as serious and talented of an attorney that is out there, and has turned Stormy Daniels' case into something dangerous for Cohen and possibly for Trump.

Only really dangerous in relation to how she was paid. The issue itself is really a non-issue from the perspective of those that voted for Trump. They didn't vote for him because he was supposed to be some upstanding moral citizen, they voted for him because he actually "spoke" to them and their concerns whether it was all smoke or not. Many many liberal democrats just don't seem to get that and since have just double downed on the deporables or otherwise just given up all pretext of possibly engaging them and instead decided to just whip up their own base.

Don't get me wrong, the idea that Trump might have shared some of their values just made the pill a little easier to swallow but I believe most just figured they had the choice of two devils and picked the one that was at least offering a better deal even if the fine print fucked'em.

Say what you will about Trump but he woke up the rank and file conservatives and gave them a taste of hope regarding their needs and concerns. Sometimes, all it takes is someone listening, regardless of the motive, to remind people they have a voice. Personally, I think Trump spooked those running the progressive agenda into pushing the pace on their plans for American society. They were playing a good long game and slowly but surely introducing the changes they wanted while conservatives were napping or otherwise lulled into a sense of futility. But, I believe they'd started running to quickly and now it's out in the open like never before regarding attacks on conservative thoughts, religion, the 2nd amendment, free speech, immigration and borders, etc.

The fact we have people in positions of power now with the ability to shape the course of the nation that openly embrace socialism and communism and push that agenda is something I really didn't expect to see in my lifetime in America. Or at least not to the degree we see it now. But people are no longer blind to what's going on. It's too "in your face" now. In our government, in our schools, in our entertainment, in our social media and eventually the club of social justice isn't going to hit like it used to. Enough people that supported it will get hit with its swing themselves or realize the stick is being welded by those with no real interest in their well being, just their support and votes. More African Americans and Latinos, coming from generally conservative communities, will realize they've been used and for how long and that so many of the promises from their Democratic leaders are just economic and social chains to control them. White people may even stop hating themselves long enough to regain their sense of worth, stop self-flagellating and regain some sense of self-preservation.

Right the payments are the dangerous things for Trump, along with other tapes Cohen may have, and other things that Cohen knows and has evidence of, perhaps even the trip to Prague that was included in the intelligence Steele got from his sources in Russia. The attitude his supporters have been willing to take towards his total lack of morality is dangerous for the country.

As for Trump's appeal, I disagree about it waking up the rank and file of conservatives, he has driven true conservatives to silence hoping that the party will recover to its old form after Trump leaves. Trump's appeal was to the dumbest and most irrational factions of republican voters, the emotional fear and anger folks, and that core group was enough to beat the weak field of republican candidates, and then the rest of voters fell in line to vote against Hillary, which is where the Russian hacking and propaganda was meant to have its effect.

What he's done is rile the establishment conservatives that were happy with the stasis the party has been in for years. Same faces, same blah blah blah, same empty words. Now we both know Trump isn't the conservative Messiah, but his blah blah blah has been different and that counts for more than you think when people believe they are no longer being heard and nothing is going to change. He talked TO them rather than around them or at them. That counts too. He voiced their fears and concerns, and in a much plainer manner than the rest of the conservative bobbleheads, and that can stir hope. Even false hope has its uses if it shakes the political cobwebs. Granted, the backlash can be something else but like I said, I believe Trump woke up conservatives more than the Tea Party did.

Trump is not a true conservative, he has been anti-free trade, anti-NATO, anti-American exceptionalism and pro-dictator, and not concerned with the deficit, for starters. Trump took over the party, yes, but he has turned it into something unrecognizable for true conservatives, outside of his supreme court justice picks to appease the folks who want the government to impose biblical law, which again is part of his focus on galvanizing the dumbest and most irrational factions of the party.

Never believed Trump was a conservative. Actually I dont think he's really anything other than Trump doing it Trumps way. Fortunately for him, Trump speak resonated and people listened.

Trump may not be be, but a substantial portion of his base that he is appealing to is what you would at least have called paleo conservative, so they are as much conservative as say Patrick Buchanan (who has all of the above traits you listed). It's an ethnic or at the very least identity cultural form of conservatism that has been fluffed by the R establishment but not openly catered to. When Breitbart describes "Natural conservatives" in their famous "alt Reich" article, that's what they are describing.

Well, a certain kind of person listened
