Well, the obama admin threw together a half assed health care plan for reasons of political legacy and now people are afraid of losing it, even faced with the knowledge that it will collapse in a few years anyway.

There is obviously some brand loyalty here though. IMO, 95% of the pissing going on back and forth is because one plan has Obama's name on it and one has Trump's.

Pretty much whats going to happen is business as usual. More handouts for the deadbeats, middle class will take it up the ass and the rich will be unphased. Thanks democrats.

The "half-assed health care plan" still represented a marked improvement on the structural problems in the insurance industry that were present before it was passed that raised the standards for insurance coverage and reduced the number of uninsured Americans by millions

Additionally, the primary reasons for its troubles were the fact that:

1. The bill had to be watered down repeatedly to try to lobby for GOP votes and the votes of the corporate whores in the Democratic caucus who were actively obstructing its passage.

2. Most GOP controlled states refused to implement any part of the reform and

3. the active steps taken to sabotage the legislation by GOPers in Congress.

The Republicans have been running on an anti-Obamacare platform for the last four election cycles and vowed repeatedly to replace it as soon as they were able to. That's not to mention the DOZENS of times that they voted to repeal when they knew that the bill would either die in the Senate or get vetoed by Obama.

The fact is that, as per usual, they never had any intention of advancing real regulatory reform. They just used it as a wedge issue to target idiot voters, many of whom actually benefited from the ACA, so that they could get back into power and kill all of the taxes and regulations that their big money donors tell them to.

Age is a better determiner of medical costs that fitness. Basically it should cost a lot to insure a child and an old person, but everybody between is pretty cheap. Fat people kind of compress the timeline a little, but it's the same thing. Obese guy age 19 is probably ok, but obese guy at 40 gets moved into the elderly pricing category because he's a few years from death.

obese people are more likely to get a myriad of health problems. sleep apnea, gout, sore neck, back problems, cancer. this is why prisons have mandatory yard training cause it reduces the health cost.

By not addressing the underlying rising costs that are caused by endless litigation, malpractice insurance, drug prescriptions patents, fraud, abuse of services, there won't stopping the endless rising costs for Health coverage.
