Sand in groundwater tends to liquidfy under vibration.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to that building when they're hit with the next 88' earthquake.

The few million dollars they saved by not drilling piers to the bedrock will seem like pennies afterwards.

Can't absolve the city's engineer's of blame either.
If regulations allow for buildings of this size to sit on sand it's going to be interesting when the next big one comes along
 
That tower is essentially full of the very pinnacle of the elitest trash who've ruined this city. I can't wait for that thing to collapse during an earthquake.
 
If it was a high rise with section 8 in it no one would give a fuck. Especially Business Insider.
