Was thinking that watching the fight yesterday.

Max should move up and Conor should welcome him. Their style matches well, they have history, both champions at 145, would be insane.

Conor did not win any fights for over two years. He needs to fight journeymen like Diaz.
Only then, IF he wins, he can talk about fighting the top echelon again.

There are better fights for both guys, and Max deserves better opponents (from MMA perspective, beating on Conor NOW would add nothing for Max).
