It’s not like the guy that wins TUF is the only one awarded a contract, look at the Denver card, a guy that lost on his first TUF fight on 20 seconds was fighting. What’s the point of actually winning it ?

Being a star of a reality show makes for better inroads in the show business. And what is UFC if not show business (as opposed to sport) nowadays.

6 figure contract for 6 fights i guess.

But you have fought 4 times for free ( except for TUF Finale)

Thanks for the answers, I didn’t know the contracts were different

The plaque.

Seems Like TUF use to get A level prospects, TJ Dillashaw, Tony Ferguson, Kelvin Gastelum, Robert Whittaker some older ones Forrest Griffin, Michael Bisping, Rashad Evans, Ryan Bader. Seems like the past several years non of the top prospects are even going on the show. Might just be too much risk, that many fights in such a short period of time.

people hate TUF so if you win it people will be dying to watch you lose as soon as you have a proper ufc fight, it guarantees a certain amount of eyes on your fight pass prelim debut

You get a great contract for your first couple of fights, a few hundred k guaranteed. Then if you get resigned you're probably back to shit money again lol

Better money, billed as a prospect and usually protected more by the ufc whilst they build you up as you gain ufc experience which is invaluable.

Plus if you end up leaving and fight on a smaller circuit the 'ufc tuf champ' tag would increase your position on the card and pay.

Gets your name out there principally. This effect is obviously diminished with the declining viewership though.

You get a better contract. There is a big advantage towin. you dont get an 8' + 3' contract.

This. On top of the declining viewer numbers, the massive amount of TUF winners that have been crowned over the years obviously dilutes the prestige of becoming one now.

You can be the champ like Esparza and Nicco or be a real winner like Julian Lane and go down in history.
