As Westerners, we often think about China as being a monolith, despite it being a massive country with over a billion people. To Westerners, Chinese MMA is Chinese MMA. Of course, this isn't the case. China has a number of competing MMA gyms.

Case in point this weekend:

Li Jingliang fights out of China Top Team in Beijing, which also features current top Chinese fighters Rijirigala Amu and Honggang Yao, and former UFC fighter Yao Zhikui.

Yan Xioanan and Weili Zhang fight out of separate gyms.

And then there is Enbo Gedou out of the Chengu Province in China, which essentially trains orphans in MMA from childhood: https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/s...s/news-story/889c07c6433d67b1b91cfc8544dd7499 .

Three fighters on this Saturday's card all fight out of Enbo Gedou: Pingyuan Liu, Yadong Song, and Sumudaerji. In addition, several other top Chinese MMA fighters fight out of this club -- Banma Duoji (10-0 MMA), Chengji Wu (10 fight win streak), and former UFC fighter Wang Sai (16-1 in his last 17 fights).

It is clear that this gym is going to be a hotbed for tomorrow's talent, and any fighter coming out of this gym is someone to watch.

I trained with an exchange student in the states who definitely trains at one of those gyms. We never communicated clearly enough for me to figure out which one hahah
