In April this year a post was made to an instagram account apparently belonging to UFC prospect Johnny Walker, who was most recently seen winning a performance of the night bonus for his KO victory over Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC Argentina, which advertised a performance enhancing drug. The banned product is Mk-677, also known as ibutamoren.

UFC Middleweight contender Yoel Romero previously tested positive for ibutamoren back in December 2015. The Cuban received a reduced six month suspension for his positive after demonstrating that his positive test was due to supplement contamination.

Walker appeared to advertise the banned drug on his instagram, as originally pointed out on reddit and highlighted to Bloody Elbow by twitter user @EvanKeaveney.

Ibutamoren is banned as a non-specified substance under the WADA prohibited list under Section 2 Peptide Hormones, Growth Factors, Related Substances and Mimetics. It carries a default sanction of a two year suspension under the UFC’s anti-doping program.

A series of experimental drugs unapproved for human use like ibutamoren have gained popularity recently, with another such drug, ostarine, being the cause of more positive UFC anti-doping tests than any other substance.

Use of ibutamoren appears to increasesecretion of growth hormone, and related hormones like insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1). This could lead to increases in muscle growth and recovery, but the drug is still experimental and not approved by the FDA, so its effects on a healthy athlete aren’t well supported by medical literature.

It’s possible Walker will find himself in hot water with USADA over his instagram post, but as long as any prior use was properly disclosed to the agency at the appropriate time he shouldn’t face any suspension for a post that happened before his UFC tenure began. USADA has been asked for comment and we will update the article if any is received.

Well, technically he might be allowed to advertise it if there is no proof he actually ingested it... Though we can guess that the random tests are going to be far less random from now on for him...

R.I.P The Goat.

1 fight in the UFC and his career is already over. Still goes down at top 5 all time.

Tire of this shit, let them juiced up if we get more awesome performances like Johnny Walkgoat last saturday.

One I am not familiar with this gentleman in the article. Two so what if he's advertising something that's banned by usada. 3 what the hell is a non-specified banned substance? 4 as long as he hasn't tested positive for it what's the issue? 5 this is a substance that you can buy at a drugstore with no prescription so it's not like it's against the law.
6 usada has no credibility after Jon Jones.

Well if he does get popped its highly likely the dude has no idea. Seems like Usada is just very confusing and situation dependent on how valuable they are.

Has Usada really fixed he sport up that much though? Pride had NONE of this shit obviously and we saw so many exciting fights, rare injury pull outs and weight cutting issues resulting in last minute cancellations.

Hope he doesn't get suspended. why can't we have nice things.

Eh supplement company products are jenky. The products have steroid names but sometimes contain nothing. While the ones who are supposedly new formulations have PEDs in them.

The mere fact that you can't even use supplements like that is totally crazy...why not allow supplements that help fighters recover quicker? These aren't steroids..they do not have nearly the same effect.

A few years back, a substance known as 1 test was perfectly legal to buy...you could walk into a bodybuilding supplement store and buy it....it is now recognized as the most powerful oral steroid ever invented...you now have to buy it on steroid sites..so just cause something is "legal" at the moment, means nothing.

So he advertised a "legal" substance before he ever entered the UFC where its banned? i don't see the problem?
