Stipe proved himself over time to be the best in the division, and he did it in fairly tidy fashion. Not much controversy there.

Since Cormier casually knocked him out in the first round, at least at this point in time, we have to accept DC beat the best guy.

The two guys that beat those top ranked guys are now fighting each other. Its about as close as you can get for the 'two best' with a division this shallow.
