Josh was losing the striking and desperately held on too long for a TD attempt. He probably though his submission defense was too good to ever get caught. The same thing could happen to anyone, including Werdum, if they weren't careful (though I don't think Werdum would show such disrespect to Rothwell's skills).

Speaking of Werdum, Fedor made the same kind of mistake when they fought...never believe you're invincible...
