Why was the Jones announcement done on Wednesday, before the press conference, rather than Friday?

Historically, major sports release news that may not be received well on Friday. This gives it the weekend to die down, and media can’t run with it until everyone is already aware of it.

The fact they released it before the press conference is strange because they will undoubtedly be asked about it and have to address questions about it, which takes some of the spotlight off of what the press conference was supposed to be all about.

Makes me wonder if this fight will actually happen. Maybe they want more people to watch the press conference to see Dana squirm around the questions he gets about it.

Mostly. The hardcore fans that don't like Jones will still be peeved about it, but the main stream media will forget it. This story is getting coverage on the sites now but it will be soon clouded out, but everything is politics and main stream media is hot garbage that lies, is controllable thru money and fucking sucks. I think UFC wanted to announce the 230 main event today, hence the conference being in New York, but USADA had to save face an tell people before the conference too, so they can go on faking like they are legit. If they gave too much notice, the news would be all over it, but if they only gave a few hours, all eyes on McGregor.

I don’t think you can call a washed fighter who got battered and humiliated himself in every way possible before he left only to retire to become a senior high wrestling coach a winner in anything. Dude lost his legacy, belt, restaurant, and relevancy all in a few years.
