Both Conor and Khabib are skilled fighters and in previous fights have been disciplined in the early rounds to stick to strategy. The only time Conor has strayed from it is when cardio has let them down. Will be interesting as I see Khabib winning in a fight between two high level specialists due to AKA game planning over SBG strategy.

Firas Zahabi came out to say he doesn't have high expectations for the fight

https://www.lowkickmma.com/firas-za...ave-high-expectations-for-khabib-vs-mcgregor/

“So I think they’re gonna be really on their game plan that night. It’s going play their game for real, the way they really play it. That’s McGregor at a distance, sniping, and that’s Khabib up-close, in personal, tying up, clinching."

While many think Conor only has the first 2 rounds I believe SBG strategy will have him maintaining distance and see him working harder in round 3 and 4. Conor is better with his movement than Khabib when fresh and will utilise this in earlier rounds without overworking.

My thoughts round by round
Round 1 - Will be very uneventful with a long feel out process and Conor moving for angles and distance. Don't see any major action from either this round as both respect the other's strength. Khabib 10-9

Round 2 - I see Conor moving in to work angles, throwing a few combinations to keep Khabib wary and Khabib looking for the southpaw lead leg off combos. Khabib getting a few takedowns with Conor popping up without taking too much damage. Conor's TDD isn't great however he is good at scrambling back to his feet (I see Conor being too active on his back and avoiding major damage). Khabib - 10-9

Round 3 - Conor lifting efforts and putting more power behind, stick and move quickly to not be cut off. I don't see Khabib being effective this round and see it being an easy round for Conor. Conor 10-9

Round 4 - Conor landing more shots on Khabib and testing him, becoming a bit more reckless with planting lead leg on combos and Khabib picking him up off one of the combos. Conor 10-9

Round 5 - Khabib coming out fast for a takedown, successful off the first one or two and dominating round. Khabib 10-9
Outcome: Decision with Khabib 48-47

I imagine it will probably look a lot like volkan v. cormier:
Whereas oezdemir had some success in the striking, as soon as dc took him down, it was pretty much over.

Didn't read anything about Mcgregor and his flow...

Won't go past one round. HEAD CLEAN OFF.

I'm actually hoping for a war, i doubt it though. Either Conor wins quick or Khabib wins a decision.

I missed what Khabib did to win round 1 lol

Haven’t heard this comp before, I like it! It really comes down to khabib’s chin IMO. If he can take the shots like DC did vs Volkan, then Conor may gas at about the same time as Volkan did and end up being TKO’ed on the ground. Being said, that would basically be the best case scenario for khabib and Conor is wayyy better than Volkan, but I do like the fight comparison

Conor gasses from the extremely high pace of Khabib, by round 2 or 3 Conor will be cooked and Khabib will finish with a sub or punches.

Any time you have a competitive matchup and you think you can predict what is going to happen round by round you are a moron.

If you think the most likely outcome of this fight is a close fought decision you are a moron.

Well done, just providing my opinion on how I feel the fight will go.. just as you did :)

Definitely valid, AKA seem to do well vs striking first fighters.

@JayJayMMA

"Khabib wary and Khabib looking for the southpaw lead leg off combos."

Yeah, that's not going to happen or how things work

Conor stepping to the outside and or stepping to his right takes his lead leg out of the path of any single leg pulls. Go read the breakdown I did on this.

This whole talking point of "but but southpaw and single leg" is quickly becoming one of the most ridiculous talking points and newb misconceptions I've ever heard in my life

@Mysterio @fortheo @The Schmoop

It's like the.. "Alvarez will bully Conor against the fence like he did Pettis" talking point all over again

Where in both cases, people jumped to step 4 without ever realising that there are steps 1, 2, and 3 before all that

Step 1 being Conor's footwork

Step 2 being Conor's range control

Step 3 being Conor's counters

Etc

And I also love how people ignore that fighting out of single legs is often easy to do so, and that Conor will be able to drop elbows on the side of Kahbib' s head from that position (if it ever even gets to that)

Anyways, it's fun to predict. Your prediction isn't based on anything though. Holds as much weight as any random kid on the street picking a winner

Its all white noise until the fight happens

However, when reading your round 1 and 2 predictions, something was interesting, and very telling

You talk about the successes you feel Conor would have, yet still give the rounds to Khabib

That tells me that you are already going to have preconceived notions and bias while watching the actual fight.

That no matter what Conor does you're going to ignore it, and that you're going to be watching the fight simply looking to score any decision in favor for khabib.

This is one of my fears, that even if Conor is absolutely dominating Khabib, that if Khabib just scores 1 TD that he does nothing with, Conor will get robbed in a decision

Hopefully Conor sleeps Khabib and it doesn't get put into the judges hands

I already know there's a lot of biased people like you who are going to be looking for any reasons to score any decision against Conor

Conor needs to put Khabib away. I feel Conor is not going to get a fair shake in a decision.

Rd. 1 - Loooong feel out period before first engagement. Conor throws a couple of shots, partially blocked by khabib, regardless, crowd goes wild. 30 seconds pass, Khabib shoots, Conor stuffs it, crowd goes wild. Khabib shoots again, gets Conor down with 1 minute to go, does a little damage, bell sounds.

Rd. 2 - Conor getting a little tired and trying to land that stiif left but can't, Khabib shoots, gets Conor down. Violence. Oh the violence. Conor's busted up and tired. Bell sounds.

Rd. 3 - Khabib shoots at the beginning of the round, gets Conor down. Violence, Oh the violence, Conor with one last attempt tries to push Khabib off, Khabib slips to the side, arm triangle in deep. It's over.

Sherdog Crashes.

That wouldn’t make him a moron. Just confident in his predictions. Don’t be a dick.
