That striking favors the younger fighter more than grappling. Talk of how pro kickboxers are shit athletes, Shogun was actually never good, rediculous. Speed reflexes and chin all go first. It seems grappling technique can still outdue physicality longer into careers than striking. Shogun, Machida, Anderson ect there's tons of examples.

Congratulations, you've been just nominated for the worst topic award....

Depends what sort of striker you are

Guys who rely on speed and reflexes, i.e. Roy Jones Jr and Anderson Silva, decline faster than guys who are one-hitter quitters like Mark Hunt, George Foreman, Dan Henderson.

Power is the last thing to go.

Its more about years than age.

Shogun has been old since he was 30.

Now his chin is trash. His style relied on his toughness

It shows some of you nerds were making Saki into some kind of unstoppable force and a regular mma fighter cleaned his clock

Theres only one way to settle this.

Goku Saki vs Sugar Rua!

More like Saki and Shogun being KOed shows how inefficient is the high guard in mma.

Overeem was K1 champion and completely changed his style in mma.
“I know he’s training on it. I know that he tries to, but the Dutch kickboxing in my opinion, respectfully, is outdated. It’s not used for MMA,” Overeem said. “I know because I am the K-1 2010 Grand Prix champion. MMA is just different.”
