if DC isn't willing to defend against Gus, which his latest insta post suggests, then they should just strip DC of the LHW title. Gus has said and done some really dumb shit (like this pulling outta 227 debacle 15 minutes after lionheart calls him out) but any other contender at LHW fighting for the title at this point is a joke.
Who does DC expect to defend against now that shogun is still fighting off marc goddard and he wants no part of Gus? DC/Latifi? DC/Blachowicz? DC/Corey Anderson? if DC actually wants to defend his LHW title any contender other than Gus is an absolute joke despite the stupid shit Gus continues to do.
Maybe the UFC can do the unexpected and book a crazy matchup between DC/Yoel or Bones gets a one year retroactive suspension and gets another shot at DC

DC is past his prime but a legitimately elite athlete.
The upper weight divisions rarely see elite athletes because men that size aren't attracted to the sport of MMA because the base pay at the highest level of the sport is 12k to get your head punched in.
Jones doesn't accidentally have two brothers in the NFL. He has elite genetics, but still in his prime. The only guy to beat DC was also elite, just younger. DC would need to be 30 years old to see how that fight really goes.
When one single guy with truly elite genetics and still in his prime trips and falls into MMA, we consider him the greatest of all time. Other sports are populated entirely with Jon Jones. His brothers aren't GOATS in the NFL, they are just guys in the sport.

i respect DC, and all the fighters that i'm about to talk somewhat disparagingly about, but i hate the way the champions get to pick their fights now a days.
that shouldn't even be a thing. it's not YOUR belt, it's not YOUR championship, it's the UFC's. if the UFC says you fight Stipe before you fight Brock, then you just accept it. all these champions who keep asking for specific guys is really ludicrous in my opinion. i'm sure JDS could've been a champion for a long time if he just kept picking to fight the Mark Hunt's and the Stefan Struve's of the division and avoided fighting Cain. but because JDS is a TRUE champion, he met every challenger head on.

GSP only moved up because Bisping was champ. He'd never do it if Whittaker, Jacare, Silva or Romero were title holders. As Dana said, GSP cherry picked Bisping and ran off. He didnt want to defend against Whittaker even though he said he would and his contract said he would. Nobody was surprised
