Coming off a loss to Ryo Chonan.

It would be 2 years of regional shows before he even made it to the UFC.

Do you think that says something about age in MMA?

Or is it discredited if he juiced?

I think if he was juicing he was far from the only one.
 
Anderson was the only fighter to juice during the 2000’s

His fights between pride and ufc weren't any give me fights whatsoever. Things were different back then and the shows he was on were very talented

"Two years of regional shows before he even made it to the UFC" lacks a bit of perspective on MMA at the time. UFC wasn't the biggest promotion, PRIDE was and he had been fighting there. He also fought on BJ Penn's "Rumble on the Rock" which brought in some of the best fighters in the world, and that was just before his debut. Cage Rage was a pretty big promotion too.

UFC was a sideways move rather than an upwards move. If anything it was a step down from PRIDE.
 
You can't really call Cage Rage a regional show, that had some of the best fighters in the world... and it's not like he was some scrub before that, he'd got a lot of respect for beating Sakurai and was considered one of the top ww/mw fighters in the world after that.

He had a couple of dodgy performances and then got his shit together. It's more unusual for fighters to have a direct trajectory to greatness than for them to hit some bumps like Anderson did.

Cage rage had something like a 2000 spectator max attendance.

No domestic tv deal.

It was a small show dude.

This is ridiculous, cage rage was never on par with the UFC, and Pride and UFC were on par.

Pride had the better HW's, LHW was competitive, as was MW's, but UFC had the better WW's and LW's.

Uh... he never said Cage Rage was on par, just that they were a pretty big promotion which is true. I bet you're such a casual you don't remember Rio Heroes.

Cage rage had some good fighters on their shows, they tended to do squash matches a bit like PRIDE.

The pay had to be very weak though.
