Nate Diaz #8 LW
- hasn't fought at LW since 2015
- his last 5 fights were 2-3, he beat 2 guys on losing streaks

James Vick # 11 LW
- 4-0 in the last 15 months
- 9-1 overall record since 2013

Keeping inactive fighters at the top, while the active and younger fighters are lower ranked.

Not the only case, I've seen it many times in several divisions. When Cain was 1-1 in the last 4 years and still ranked top #4, while the active fighters who were winning were ranked lower.

You should do your own rankings and we will go by those now.

100% agree anyone who doesn't fight within a year should not be rankings eligible. This system is terrible.

Vick is so overrated. Nate would destroy him.

Apparently Vick can't get anyone to fight him. I've been impressed with this guy for a long time but he keeps having to take fights that don't do anything for his career.

And he'll never get ranked higher because nobody above him will fight him.

I agree. Nates last 2 years of fighting have been equally exciting as Vicks. 11 is to high of a rank.

he is just not on the high end or the mid end of the "marketable" scale..just keep on winning Vick..that's your only route

Hopefully Gaetjhe will fight him next.
Problem is, for me, is this weight cutting malarky. As James Vick is now in his 30's, I bet he'll soon be struggling to make lightweight regularly. He'll probably miss weight once or twice soon and be forced up to welterweight.

Nate would need to fight him first in order to destroy him.

You should do your own rankings and we will go by those now.

Masvidal is overranked, too.
Yair Rodriguez is massively overranked despite having not a single Top 15 win.
Pettis 2-5 in his last 7, still ranked in the deepest division (LW).

etc.

Rankings should have a visible logic behind them and not be done by eye

Something that reflect

WIN + X points (based on opponent's rank)
LOSE - X points (based on opponent's rank)
Winning streak + X points each win
Losing streak - X points each loss
Over 6 months inactivity - X points each month
Cheating - X points and suspension
Cheating twice X points erased and longer suspension

Total of points = fighter's rank

I'm not a math guy, but does'nt seem so hard to get an official, universal formula to express this

Agreed.

Rankings don't matter. Conor ranked above Tony even though he hasn't fought for nearly 2 years.

But as far as I'm concerned with Diaz' ranking, its just making up for that time he was completely pulled from the rankings because Dana had a hissy fit. From #6 to non - extant overnight. He beat Maynard who then moved up 2 spots when Nate was removed.

Who votes on these rankings? UFC secretaries? Food service providers? Just Dana?
