Not particularly a Kelvin fan (rooting for Jacare) but it's common to hear he is undersized for MW. If he beats Jacare will people finally accept him as a legit contender at MW like they have for RDA after beating Lawler?

People only said that because The Chris stomped him.

No. Unless he looks bigger and stronger. Teh Chris maimed him

Him beating Jacare won't change the fact that he is small for the division.

He gets the W all is good.

He gets that L then he is a fat WW.

I mean too small to be a legit contender as opposed to just small.

Whittaker is kind of small too (was listed as 5'11 before and fought at WW of course) XD

Him becoming champ wouldn't change that he is small for the division. But he missed weight too many times at WW and deserves to fight at MW from now own. Can have all the tacos he wants

He is too small to go on the ground because jacare, Weidman, rockhold, yoel will ragdoll him.

As long as the fights on the feet its all good though

Kelvin is just in an odd situation. As a wrestler, you would assume he would be lifting more and trying to put on more muscle. Instead, since moving to MW, he seems to have given up on the idea of being able to overpower anyone and is instead shifting more towards boxing. I guess he's a bit like a MW Frankie Edgar at this point.

Same people that day he is too small will say Bobby is too small and that weight cutting is cheating... Idiots that come with the sport

No,
he will still be too small for the division. If he beats Jacare, Whittaker, and defends the title 10 times he will STILL be too small for MW.

People dont just say that because he lost to Weidman it's just the truth that he's very undersized for MW and the size disadvantage is the worst when it comes to the grappling side.

Kelvin Gastelum is just THAT good he can get by on being the much smaller fighter in a lot of situations.

whittaker is like 5'10.

UFC increases everyone height by 1 - 2 inches that is why he is listed at 6'

Nobody saying anything about the size of the current MW champ

Chris dwarfed him but Chris is prob one of, if not the biggest MW they have like Luke. Them dudes are 205’ers making that extra cut getting super lean to get 185.

Kelvin is murdering legit stocky MWs

He was actually listed as 5'11 before IIRC lol (unless that was on another site and not by UFC).

Yea yea yea fat welterweight yea yea yea

If he can't make weight at 170 he's not a WW either. Kelvin is a MW and will fight in the right weight class for him. There's nothing to discuss about it.

He can be effective even to the point of being champ, yet still be undersized. With success that tends to turn into an advantage, like with Edgar and Fedor, but he's still undersized. Weidman beat him with size and strength, both being skilled. Kelvin looked good otherwise with his technique. So it's a problem even if he wins.

I think he is on the small side to be a MW. However, Kelvin is very skilled and has handled much larger foes more than not.
