Watch this interview with Jeremy Stephens. Dan TOLD him prior to the fight, that as long as one hand was off the ground it was legal to throw a knee under the "new rules". Miragliotta himself was misinformed about the rules, and wasn't aware that the opponents knees had to be off the ground as well.

THAT is why he didn't react when Jeremy threw the knee. and THAT is why Stephens threw the knee in the first place.

Dan is staring straight at them and has a clear as day view of Stephens throwing the knee.
The only reason why he doesn't react is cause he thinks it's legal himself.

Having two separate sets of rules is dumb, but dumber yet is Miragliotta not understanding both as a fucking ref.

Newer fans might think it's Yamasaki, but it's Dan Mirg

with Mazzagatti in 2nd place

He's bullshitting. Nobody told him that

It makes sense that Miragliotta thought it was legal. It was so blatant, that that is the only reason that makes sense as to why he didn't intervene.

Lol, preparing his case for the appeal. Scapegoating Big Dan as an idiot. NC or fuckery..cheater

Were the new rules in effect in this event?. see this is the big problem with UFC.. there is different rules in different states, its like its a different sport depending on where they are. Some states have adopted the new rules, some states don't have the new rules. Its so confusing. It needs to be cleared up and the same rules all over..

Yep it's already affected a few fights.

Are you fucking kidding? That's like the one part of being grounded that has never changed. "New rules" is not a valid excuse here. Yeah, number of hands or weight down on those hands gets confusing state to state, but a knee on the ground is and always has been a grounded fighter in every location they'll ever fight in. Goddamn Dan, get on the fuckin ball.

The source proves nothing of what Big Dan thinks of the knee (whether legal or not).

This ts cites Stephens' understanding of the explanation of the rules as Big Dan's perspective of the rules, which is false.

TS' claim in the title is bs

Granted we don't have absolute evidence as it's not from Dan's mouth himself.
But it would however explain why Dan didn't react to such a blatant illegal shot.
Dan is LITERALLY looking straight at them from a clear angle when Jeremy throws it.

True. I've edited the thread title to make it clear these are Stephens' words

He may have cleaned up and gone legit since, but there's nothing anyone can ever do or say that will ever make me believe that Big Dan wasn't on the payroll for the Kimbo/James Thompson fight years ago. I will forever see him as a dirty ref, and though I think he just fucked up tonight, he still has pretty much no respect.
