Why did he start fighting so late? The guy was almost 30 when he made his debut

So sad. Imagine him in his 20s

He's a mechanical engineer too. He has a day job.

Because he had a good job, fighting was just a hobby until he realized he was pretty damn good at it.

Brother, if you want and you think you can do something just fucking do it. Even if you know it is the last day of your life. What is sad is those legions of people stopping themselves from doing things they would love to do just because society expect them not to do it for whatever reason...too old, too young, too small, too short, cause you are a girl, cause you are white, black ,etc...society has a lot of assholes running its business. I say fuck them.

his injuries were more of issue. other guys who start late at that age can still find success look at ngannou or stipe or cormier etc. There many more.

He is a dude who loves to fight, a tough son of gun. Reminds me of old school fighters like Bobby Hoffman, but with more class and talent.

Too bad we never got to see part-time fireman vs. full-time engineer...thought that wouldn't really look good for the sport.

Ken Shamrock did the same, other times.

Yeah, he was about 30 when the sport started. Severn, Couture, Lesnar, Cung Le and Tom Erickson were even older when they started. There are a lot of "what ifs" with fighters like that.

He was cutting too much height. He stopped once he became 6'1"

No one wants to be a manlet

He didn't master height-cutting until his 30's. After that, there were only so many height-cuts his body could endure from a physical standpoint. Sad story of what could've been.
