- He has pretty shit cardio, and is very vulnerable once he gases.
- His ground game is non-existent
- His boxing technique is pretty bad. Once someone with basic boxing skill set faces him and fights smart, Ngannou misses punches and gets hit pretty easy.
- He has a great chin, he got hit clean with a hard shots from Stipe, and stayed in there well.
- He has alot of heart to stay in the fight and not quit after 5 hard rounds of getting beat to a pulp and being gassed after the 2nd.

Overall, he is not a spectacular fighter. Just a freak of nature with alot of power who has been able to transtion to MMA in a short period of time, but still has MAJOR holes in his game.

Prime Cain, Jones, DC, Prime JDS, Werdum (if he fights smart), Prime Big Nog, Prime Fedor, Prime Cro Cop, and Brock Lesnar would absolutely maul Ngannou. Fuck even Roy Nelson would destory Ngannou. All Francis has is a chin and crazy power.

We already knew most of that really

Especially the first 3

Overeem put in the worst performance of his career and made him look better than he is

I basically agree. We saw some major holes in his game, overconfidence and poor gameplanning. However, we also saw a strong chin an legit warrior's spirit, still going for the finish in the fifth while completely beat up and gassed. I still think there's potential there, even a smarter gameplan could've changed things. Let's see where he's at in a year two fights from now. In hindsight the hype was absurd, but there's not reason to completely throw him under the buss either. I saw someone comparing him to Bob Sapp, but even compared to a prime Sapp Ngannou is way more agile.

Your average joe could tell 5+ minutes of high intensity would smoke this guys energy.

None of those guys have better than a 50% chance of beating him. His power more than makes up for technical shortcomings and he's only gonna get better. He'd just as likely blow their heads to another dimension.

I dont think his boxing is that shitty, need better camp, wrestling coach and loose those 10 pound extra weight he gained in upi

He's gotten by with his physical abilities so far. When you fight nothing but old men that can work.

he definitely has a chin on him.

also lol at people thinking jones will ever fight at HW, he'd lose.

yeah, he lost to Stipe. what a scrub.
your MMA analytical skills are shit, just like your threads.

Great post, TS.

This whole forum has been shitting on Ngannou's cardio and skills (which is probably warranted) but he did show a great chin. Stipe hit him some flush shots that snapped FN's head back yet he stayed standing.

Francis needs to get back to the basics. With that size and reach, the jab should be his primary weapon. It seemed like he should have thrown more jabs to set up his power shots.

He also really needs to work on TDD and escaping from bottom. Like big time

That power and ability to land which he did on Stipe will keep him top 3 for most of his career. I honestly don't see anyone who can do what Stipe did. But neckbeards on here don't see it that way.

if brock fought the way he fought hunt, brock would destroy nganouu in 3 rounds

Ngannou should take a page from Overeem's book and transform into EconoFrancis (a little work on TDD and BJJ wouldn't hurt either)

We already know Francis can sleep fools, so maybe a little more focus on grappling for the next while should be in order.

Gassing/ bad cardio is like when you jog for 10 miles and can't run as fast anymore. Ngannou freaked out, started breathing shallow and fast, and his body burned through its internal energy stores since his shallow breathing wasn't giving him any oxygen. That's anxiety in a high pressure situation and not having the experience -- only 10 fights -- to know how to deal with it.

He's still green.

He'll get better.

Jones- If he prepared well enough and was 230-240 he would win easy. Jones has superior striking defense and footwork to avoid that power shot. Jones is a much better wrestler than Stipe and his ground game is impeccable with insane submission skills and some of the best ground n pound in MMA. Jones would also weigh much less and have much better cardio. Jones would also pick him apart on the feet, keeping ngannou at bay with kicks. Honestly, Jones has all the advantages and many more ways to win, whereas Ngannou's only way to win is catching Jones.

Daniel Cormier- He has one of the best chins OAT. He ate clean right hands and head kicks from Anthony Johnson (the p4p hardest hitting fighter with 3-4 head kick KO's), ate a crazy knee from Gustafsson (which slept manuwa), ate shots from roy nelson and for the most part avoiding the right hand with his wrestling, avoided the right hand of Dan henderson, and etc... DC can use his boxing skills to avoid the power punch of ngannou, and use his olympic wrestling skills to literally maul Ngannou. Seeing what stipe did to Ngannou, I am convinced that DC would literally ragdoll Ngannou and finish him with ground n pound or submission. DC is one of the greatest wrestlers in MMA (MUCH better than Stipe) and is a BJJ Black Belt, and Ngannou looked defenseless on the ground from a lesser wrestler with no notable grappling or submission skills. The wrestling, ground n pound, chin, cardio, BJJ skills and etc... of DC would be too much for Ngannou to handle.

JDS- JDS's boxing skills are far superior to Ngannou's. JDS has the power to match ngannou and the skills to outclass him, whereas Ngannou has terrible boxing skills and just power. Of course the JDS now who's chin is essentially gone from the damage he took in his Cain, Overeem, and Stipe fights, would lose. However, the JDS who fought Shane Carwin would destory Ngannou. Shane Carwin has just as much power as Ngannou, and JDS barely got touched while completely outboxing Carwin along with JDS taking Carwin (a NCAA Division 1 wrestler) down and ground n pounding him.

Brock Lesnar- He has a crazy chin as seen in the amount of carwin punches he ate. I think Brock has superior cardio and can take the damage from Ngannou and then submit him. Brock is an explsoive wrestler, with better cardio, better submission game, and a crazy chin. Even an old brock lesnar avoided the power shot from mark hunt with his wrestling.

Roy Nelson- Roy Nelson has an insane chin eating clean shots from prime JDS, Overeem, Stipe, Cro Cop, and insane knees from werdum. Im sure nelsons chin couldlast from ngannous power. Also Neson suprsingly has much better cardio than ngannou, and his ground game is very underrated. I feel like it would look like nelsons fight with cro cop or kimbo slice.

The first two were theorized but unknown seeing as how he wasnt ever put in the situations for us to to see it.
