I haven't started a thread in a while.
Stop with this bullshit. I know some people throw critical analysis to the wind out of spite or for fun, but enough of this.

Most recently people are saying this about Miocic-Ngannou. Also see Diaz-McG 2. An exhausted fighter is still a potentially dangerous one, esp when the opponent is also often exhausted himself, as were Miocic and Diaz. Even if a guy is on one-leg, he still has two arms, he still got one leg, he still has a brain; he can still put up a fight.

Remember Paige VanZant last week and Ovince St Preux fighting with a broken arm? Shevchenko fighting with a dislocated finger on the lead left?

Fans still very clearly aren't familiar with the intricacies of fighting. We expect exhausted or injured fighters to be walking punching bags.

People are either overestimating the impact of these seemingly devastating circumstances or how easily you can realistically finish an opponent or underestimating the will of the compromised fighter.
And many fans often clown the fighters for the latter when it happens.

Chris Leben was gassed and completely out on his feet when he KTFO Terry Martin. The threat is always there.

All the more impressive that Fedor took chances and still didn’t get dropped with a punch for 10 years.

Stipe took the gsp game plan

Don't you know that anyone on Sherdog can manhandle a 270lbs monster and finish him at will without breaking a sweat ? Every punch that Stipe ate would knock out about 20 sherdogers.

My favourite comment on this topic so far was "Most of you motherfuckers couldn't roll over Francis' dead body".

Still giggling at that one.

There are always going to be those people talking shit from the comfort of their couch with records of 0-0 that are fight analysts.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda. Stipe was tired from grappling with a larger man as well and did his job. AND STILL.

No bro!
I need excuses to cope...big daddy ngannou lost
His beach muscles and ford escort power instantly made him the goat.....

Who am I supposed to vicariously live through now?

People on here see MMA/fighters as a video game. They're separated from reality.

it was same with Lima - the guy couldn't even take out one-legged Rory macdonald.
Also Shlemenko - couldn't finish one-eyed Moose.
Fucking ridiculous

I'm still tied with McGregor in the title defense category, so I'm pretty well versed in mma, thank you very much.

I box my one eyed trouser snake almost daily and usually win.

@Venom is working on the intricacies of thread starting techniques that we don't even know the names of

<5>

But on a serious note, I couldn't agree more. It's like not only have they never trained or been in a fight, but they don't even watch MMA.

Even Rogan says stupid shit all the time like "I don't know why fighter x is slowing down here.." after said fighter had taken a beating / lots of body shots.

In the Oliveira vs Medeiros fight he said "something changed, something changed for Oliveira here." It's called accumulative damage.

(Slightly off topic but somewhat relevant in terms of ignorance)

Meh... I personally think it would be harder to finish a fighter with a broken arm/hand, because they become more defensive, and the opportunity to land in exchanges aren't there...

And just because we know that a fighter is fighting with an injury doesn't mean that their opponent or his/her corner know about it. Viewers have the benefit of hearing the commentators tell us that a fighter has an injury, but unless it is an obvious injury, the opponent might still think the fighter is at full health...

Most guys here have never trained. They relate combat sports to video game psychology.
