The dreaded switch ki-, uh knee. Do you consider it to be just skill and timing?

For some reason BWs love it and it's always devastating.

Do you consider it more of a mid strike adjustment or an opponent error?

Moraes and TJ said in post fight interviews that they were throwing the switch kick and their opponent happened to meet their knee instead. Idk if Faber commented on his.

Phenomenal performance by Moraes, he looked like the better fighter from the get go and had Sterling in trouble even before the switch kick attempt.

Geez Sterling got flatlined. That's gonna hurt his confidence big time.

skill and timing on throwing it, luck on your opponent trying to make-out with it

Bader also hit a sick one on Latifi if I remember correctly

One of the fighters tweeted last night that it's a taught technique - lead with the knee, then snap the kick. If one misses, then there's a second one coming behind it.

Good call out. I believe that was an actual designed switch knee. Still can't believe they let Bader go to Bellator with how shallow LHW is.

This knockout reminded me of Joachim Hansen vs Luiz Azeredo

Exactly, looks like failed kicks on the one end, and reckless takedown attempts and bad luck on the other. Outside of MT specialists the kneeing game in the UFC is sub-par.

Sterling ran right into that knee head first it almost looked like he tried to catch his knee with his face. I think he was fucked up from getting hit before that.

full credit for moraes, that was a deadly strike, a touch lucky on the impact, but that was gonna hurt no matter where it landed.

It's a combination of error on the opponent and a sign of good technique on the kick.

A good switch kick is muay thai 101 because most people are expecting the rear roundhouse. Unfortunately a lot of UFC fighters tend to neglect it in favour of their power leg which often hits elbows or is too telegraphed to do damage.

Barboza probably has one of the best switch kicks in recent memory but Moraes knee was quick and untelegraphed unlike sterling's takedown.

Not sure some people understand what a switch kick is. If it's a rear leg kick from a fighters normal stance it isn't a switch kick. It's just a kick.

Also, if it isn't a kick targeting a leg it's just a kick not a leg kick.
