How does Jose Aldo have the best TDD in MMA history even though he never wrestled in HS or college?

Jose Aldo stuffed the takedowns of two of the best and most explosive wrestlers in MMA history (Frankie Edgar 2X, Chad Mendes 2X) with hilarious ease.

Thoughts?

Same as GSP (great at MMA wrestling without having background in amateur wrestling) - great training, fight IQ, etc.

Soccer built legs.

There is nothing a pair of well developed soccer legs can't do.

Aldo was a great natural athlete who was an even better not natural athlete.

Aldo, BJ, Cro Cop, Tibau, GSP, all fighters with great TDD that didn't have a backgroud in wrestling. Shows again that wrestling and mma wrestling are far from the same thing.

This is the answer , had a couple lifelong soccer players on my hs team and even though they weren’t great it still sucked bad to shoot in on them. If you did get the takedown it sucked the life out of you. Slide bys and ankle picks were the key to avoid the suck

They are closer than any thing else though, hence why MMA is full of wrestlers.

Also gsp trained diligently with the Canadian Olympic team. In terms of training that's as "real as it gets" when it comes to wrestling.

Fantastic reflexes . Was great technically too . Even when he got taken down briefly he got right back up
