Darren Till can (potentially) be WW champion if the UFC give him about 2 more years to build up. The reason is simple: Till has age and time on his side, and in 2 years, he will be at his peak, in addition to the extra time to work on his wrestling (his biggest weakness).

In 2 years, all the current top 10-15 WW will be out of their primes.

Perry is the only guy that will still be in his physical prime 2 years from now. However, Perry's skill level, as it is currently, seems to be way below compared to the rest of the WW division. I personally don't see him being a threat to the WW title.

Questions:

1. Do you think Till will have more chance of becoming champion if he waits about 2 more years?

2. Do you think the UFC / Dana White will be patient and build Till up, or will they rush him to the Title shot?

He will not be the champion as long as the GOAT Mike Perry is in the division.

After this it's steep progress. I was thinking till is way above a scrub like Perry but maybe that would be a good booster fight.. tho it'll just be standing and till would knock him out.

I dunno, he looked amazing in the cerrone fight

31 isn't old for WW. You aren't wrong though. I Till continues to get better as he is right now he should challenging within 2 years tops.

didn't realise Usman and Pozinibio where in their early 30's

I haven't heard that he has trouble with the weight cut but Till is a huge guy. I read he used to fight at LHW? As he gets older, that cut gets harder and harder and he may very well be forced to move up to MW.

I got that feeling from his first fight in the ufc and I prepared for the day he'd be up there and it came sooner than I thought.

The only guy not in his prime 2 years from now would still be Till because at 26 he has still time to grow a lot.

Prime years for an mma fighter is not the twenties, and the thread you just made is the proof of that, most of the top 15 are over 30.

SMH stop overreacting.

He was a bad match up for Cowboy. Aggressive south paw.

Beats Cowboy now future division king. SMH.

We haven't even seen how he reacts when things aren't going his way.

He already beat #6 Cerrone, how could you wait two years? The only way I can imagine if he turns into a Khabib

You make a convincing argument. I had more to say before you used the age card, very true.

That said, many people can jump out of the wood works over a couple years. Till looked awesome against a scared & under-sized Donald. I'm a massive Doland fan, but if you catch him early he will fold. He can take some punishment over-time, but he's not going to let you just KO him with no regard. He started to shell after getting cracked & was taken out early. Excellent style match-up for Darren as he's the longer, rangier, and much larger fighter.

On top of this, Donald looked less physically tight then ever before. I don't know if there was an injury, he doesn't have the muscle/frame for the weight class or what, but he was easily 10-15 lbs. lighter then his opponent & less lean.

Great OP. I think Till needs time, 2-3 years sounds about right. Depending on how Perry/Till thing plays out, I wouldn’t be surprised if either one is rushed into a title shot; UFC needs stars, and guys/gals who talk trash and back it up fit the bill.

Lastly:

No Sleep TILL Title Shot!

Unless your name is Jon Jones

Darren disagree with you,
he want it asap, he can scalp a top 3 fighter,
then he can get his title shot

people are tired to see the same guys fighting for the title,
it will be amazing if he can ko Tyron in one round,
he has the size advantage, and that's a big deal

They shouldn't rush Till.
Build him up slowly.

He's in a similar position to Erick Silva.
They have their whole career in front of them.
The sky is the limit.

Obviously the kid could be champ he has a ton of potential but we've seen great prospects go south a million times, these threads are often pretty silly and wrong, but we'll see of course.

I read he used to fight at LHW?

I can't say for sure as some of his early fights have no weight class listed but as I check his opponents they are all from 145-170 except 2 (tapology) or so that I can't see and don't feel like checking them on other sites.I would say if he has fought at LHW it was maybe once in the very beginning of his career or in MT or something. He was never a real LHW from what I can tell.

If he fought at LHW once it really is meaningless imo he's obviously not a LHW in this day and age. It's easy to look at someone and guess about how big and heavy they are but you can't really tell till you get a hold of them in my experience. Some guys with those big frames look a lot bigger than they feel and some smaller looking guys are a lot heavier than you'd think.I don't think he will have too many problems making 170 in the future especially with constant advancements in diet/weight cutting etc. but obviously 185 is an option too if he has to.

I guess you haven't seen the Dalby fight. He broke his arm in the second rd but kept fighting, he got his ass beat in the third rd because his arm was fucked but he didn't panick or think of giving up for a second.
