You can tell that he still dislikes Jones a lot and it's going to take a while to really put the loss behind him, but he's slowly moving forward.

DC knows very well Jones is full of crap with his friendship/respectful attitude, but he takes a much better approach when he just lets Jones expose himself instead. He doesn't have to do it. He'll come off as a salty loser if he does. You can't win there.
