Imo he is.

Cormier has a 19-1 pro record with his ONLY loss coming from Jones. Besides that he completely dominated the HW division for years except he refused to fight Cain for being his training partner. Cormier was never in real danger in any fight, has one of the best chins in the game and basically a better fighter than everybody except maybe Jones.

Jones is already considered the GOAT by a lot of people, has no losse except a DQ where he was dominating the fight, and only had one fight that was close against Gus.

Apart from that there is a legit feud where the thrashtalk > Conor imo since it is REAL.

So we have a 19-1 vs 22-1 lhw title fight with a lot of emotions going on tomorrow. Imo the most important MMA fight in years and the winner should be considered at least a GOAT contender.

If you are not hyped for this fight you don't like MMA. Seriously.

Anderson Silva is the GOAT. Bring the hate.

Nah, jones already beat Cormier. Cleaning up scraps won't put him ahead of fedor yet, but since he's already neck and neck, it certainly won't hurt.

Not unless they both pull out and Anderson and Fedor step in

So glad you decided to make this thread for the 1000000000th time.

Jones is already the GOAT.

Beating DC again will only add to that.

if DC wins he's GOAT, and if he loses the 3rd he's not? ya, that's the problem.

GOAT status should NEVER be based on one win or one loss. that's what belts are for.

right?

Sounds fair enough, and I agree with DC, his record is pretty legit as it is already;

Jones if he wins. DC is an all-timer already but his resume isn't as deep. There are LHW's with 30, 40 and 50 fights, who have been fighting longer than both of them. Jones being unbeaten puts him ahead of those, imo.

Cormier is already GOAT alongside GSP and Conor.

Get real, Cormier is probably not even top ten as far as GOAT discussions go.

Jon Jones ran thru a gauntlet of the best fighters in the LHW division's history in their prime and cleared out the current LHW division as well minus Rumble.

And he hasn't even been active for a year, that's how far else everyone is behind him in the division.

If the winner moves up and wins the HW title at some point then yes

How? Jones has a better resume than DC and he has DC on his. It'd still be Jon.

As we know in MMA, the fans only think you are as good as your last fight. Fedor won like 30 straight fights and as soon as he got old and lost: "CAN!".

Andy and Jones both have asterisks next to their name as they are proven cheaters. It is simply unfair to compare known cheaters vs clean fighters. There is no telling what Fedor could have, would have, done if he juiced like these other guys or if he fought at lower weight class and cut weight like today's fighters.

IMO, Fedor and Igor are the GOATS, for they were welterweights competing against Giants and giving 0 fucks about trying to game the system and get every little advantage they could.

I'm tired of hearing this. DC did not dominate the HW division for years. Look at his best wins at HW.

Roy "Fat" Nelson, gatekeeper at best
Josh Barnett, decision win over a fighter that started fighting in the 1990's.
Frank Mir who was also worn out by the time he fought DC, another decision win
Bigfoot Silva

Those are his 4 best wins at HW, he hasn't even fought the best HW's much less dominated the HW division.

Lastly, even if he beats Jones they are 1-1, not sure how you think that makes DC the GOAT.

That, and Bones is 10-0 in title fights.
