From July 1st: CSAC holds early UFC 214 weigh ins via FaceTime

In effort to fulfill its new 10-point weight cut program, California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) held virtual weigh ins earlier this month (July 1st) for UFC 214’s title fight combatants, which includes UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, former champion Jon Jones, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, No. 1 welterweight contender Demian Maia, and former Invicta FC champions Cris Cyborg and Tonya Evinger.
Since CSAC holds the right to monitor fighters 30 and 10 days before an event, they had all six main card participants weigh in via FaceTime.
Foster also revealed that doctor’s have a specific weight limit for each of the six fighters, but wouldn’t disclose what that number was. Still, the CSAC executive was more than happy at the results from the virtual weigh in.
This is the first time CSAC has done anything like this in effort to create a safer and more effective weight cutting regiment for fighters. So far, the process has gone down without a hitch.
