I remember when Nate Marquadt fought against Rousiamr Palhares. Nate Marquadt was accused of using soap on his legs, so he could slip out of submissions easier. And then led to him finishing Palhares:

I think the end verdict, was that Nate shaved his legs and worked up a sweat before the fight, which made him slippery and so much so that Palhares (a Jiu Jitsu specialist), couldn't grab him.

GSP has also been accused of being "slippery" and was accused of using vaseline against BJ Penn.

My point is, I think Maia has a good chance against Tyrone Woodley, but he will need to get a take down and use his GRAPPLING skills.

Instead of using vaseline, could Maia, in theory, use chalk? Or something very dry, to get more traction with his grappling?

No. Read the rules. Section 34.5(B) Chalk shall not be used under any circumstances unless administered anally by an official NSAC representative.

I think people might notice something's up.

I believe the only thing you're allowed to use for extra traction is your own shorts and and leg/foot wrappings for injuries.

Could he accidentally trip and fall into a box of talcum powder on his way to the octagon?

good Q.... almost.

baby powder is ok, as long as it is tinted brown first.

He should just tape his entire body like a mummy

I literally LOL'd at this. I'm so immature.

Didn't George Sotiropoulos or however you spell his name used to wear both knee and ankle braces that covered almost his entire legs? Pretty much the same concept only legal to do.

But the fight is happening under the jurisdiction of the CSAC though...

Look how Mir taped his leg for UFC 100.

Is that still legal?

(Didn't help him from getting his face smashed in tho... )

It's a fight.

I give ZERO fucks if he chalked up his knob, there.

JUST WIN !

Didn't one or 2 commissions stop him from doing that after a while?

Jones always has chalk with him.
