I remember when Nate Marquadt fought against Rousiamr Palhares. Nate Marquadt was accused of using soap on his legs, so he could slip out of submissions easier. And then led to him finishing Palhares:
I think the end verdict, was that Nate shaved his legs and worked up a sweat before the fight, which made him slippery and so much so that Palhares (a Jiu Jitsu specialist), couldn't grab him.
GSP has also been accused of being "slippery" and was accused of using vaseline against BJ Penn.
My point is, I think Maia has a good chance against Tyrone Woodley, but he will need to get a take down and use his GRAPPLING skills.
Instead of using vaseline, could Maia, in theory, use chalk? Or something very dry, to get more traction with his grappling?
