That pretty much sums it up. It doesn't make anything worse than it is now and everything should sort itself out when Whittaker is fit again so he can beat GSP or Bisping or fight Rockhold or Weidman for a vacant belt if GSP wins and retires again.

What pisses me off is that we are rushing Maia so we have the option of the WW champ vs GSP in MSG. I'm still not sure what to think about these interim belts. I'm a hardliner - interim belts should only be awarded when a champ is unable to defend the belt but can come back within a year and a half or so. Any longer, and the champ should be stripped.

Meanwhile, when an interim champ can't fight to unify their belt, and the champ needs to take a fight against another contender, the interim should be stripped. There's no point to it otherwise, and I'm saying that despite being happy Whittaker won the belt.

UFC 217 in Madison Square Garden, New York seems to be the best. Close to Canada and UK fans can fly over as well. Event is scheduled on 4th of November, so GSP and Bisping will both be ready to go by then.
