Gaethje just bumped Diaz in rankings, taking his 5th spot.

Gaethje earned a big name. Diaz hasn't fought in almost a year (Aug. 20, 2016). A few things could motivate Diaz to accept the fight (higher-ranked opponent, undefeated fighter, most hyped fighter in division, war potential, etc.).

Make it a main event, a five-round fight, to test Gaethje's suspect gas tank before giving him a title fight.
