An MMA fighter is like a Decathlete. They train for many different events, and the best fighters are pretty good at every event, like the 100 meter sprint, long jump, pole vault, etc.

A Boxer is like a 100 meter sprinter. They are fast as hell at the 100 meter sprint.

Suggesting that either a decathlete try racing a top 100 meter sprinter, or a 100 meter sprinter try competing in all 10 events against a top level decathlete is ludicrous.

1 out of a million times a sprinter will hurt himself mid race allowing the decathlete to win and vice versa.

9 times out of ten theres always an exception to the rule

You can always land that lucky punch though

Not true. Athletics fans will remember all-time-great heptathlete Carolina Kluft who also won world championship bronze medal in long jump.

Many multi-discipline athletes have their specialities. For example another great heptathalon gold medallist Jessica Ennos was also national record holder in hurdles and high jump if I'm not wrong.

First post was you bumping.... Take the hint man

Why do I feel the need to post "can't stamp a double stamp loyd" ..... every time I read a post about this bs fight .... "can't stamp a double stamp !!! " . Let's give this shit a rest until it is at least signed .

A fight is a fight, a race is a race.
No, a fight isn't just a fight. A fight where you can't grapple is different from a fight where you can grapple. A fight without kicks is different than a fight with kicks. The ruleset is crucial in combat sports. Strategies, styles, and training are all geared toward success within a ruleset.

I'm no boxing aficionado, but it is easy to respect the talent pool and the degree of specialization of elite boxing. MMA's talent pool is more shallow, but is slowly increasing, especially in the FW-WW range. But it is also easy to respect the well-roundedness of most top fighters. Even guys we consider one trick ponies or specialists in MMA are far more well-rounded than pure boxers or grapplers.

We've done it, the debate is settled, never again will this topic come up!
