WHen the Gracies started this sport, they never envisioned fighters becoming "mix Martial Artists".

They wanted to see which martial arts was king.

So forget about those well rounded fighters.

Did they prove BJJ was king?
Do you think Wrestling dominates?
How about Bruce Lee's own jeet kune do?

What do you think? Here are some martial arts (just to name a few)

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
muay thai
Kickboxing
Boxing
Judo
Wrestling
Sambo
Karate
Capoeira
Taekwondo
Hapkido
Aikido
Kenpo
Ninjutsu
Savate
Kung Fu
Sumo
Other
none

Note: mods, this would be awesome if this could be made into a pool.

are weapons associated with the disciplines allowed?

people got smart so it would benefit if you knew about other disciplines

Wrestling is the strongest.

Judo, good and strong standup, also judo has a ground game.

Going with only ONE martial art and no experience with any other, I'd honestly say JKD. Is that fair though? JKD, as Lee intended it, is really a mix of savate, western boxing, japanese JJ, wing chun hand trapping and a few other things.

It's like saying Sambo is best. That would be a bit unfair since it's basicly a variation of MMA.

It´s all about the rules & fight configuration.

Those who say one particular style is the best are only repeating old propaganda.

Yeah, I agree.
but it existed pre-Gracie MMA, so I added to the list/... same for JKD.

It's still a pretty new sport. I'd be more fun to go with the pure arts. In that case I say Judo!

The sport was built on PED's.

well, was JKD a pure art?
Some would claim it is one of the purest, designed by one of the best martial artists of all times....

I love watching masters of one art instead of a "jack of all trades, master of none" type fighter.

I love watching guys like Maia, Askren, Wonderboy, Cro Cop, etc. impose their style in MMA fights.

But then again Maia had to add takedowns, Askren had to learn sub defense and Wonderboy and Cro Cop had to learn takedown defense. Still even then, they are some of the most one dimensional fighters we have ever seen and some of the most interesting as well.

I just meant one dimensional arts.
